The Google Search element allows you to add site search capability to your Brizy Cloud websites. This element works best on websites that have already been indexed by Google. If your website is new and is yet to be indexed by Google, this search feature will be ineffective.
Kindly follow the procedure below to add a Google search to your Brizy Cloud website.
Add Google Search
- Drag the Google Search element into a Brizy page.
- You will see a notification which says "Google Search Setup Required". Under the heading "Create a Search Engine", click on the link "Open CSE Console"
- Google's "Programmable Search Engine" console will open up. Click on the "Add" button towards the top right corner
- In the "Create a new search engine" screen, provide a name for your search engine and select the sites you want to include in the site search. To include all pages of your Brizy Cloud website, paste the website URL with a * at its end and click on the "Add" button. If your website URL is https://www.brizy.io/ you should type https://www.brizy.io/*
- Click on "I'm not a robot" and then on "Create" button to create the search engine for your website.
- You will see a confirmation "Your new search engine has been created". Click on "Customize" button.
-
Copy the "Search Engine ID" by clicking on the copy icon
-
Switch back to the Brizy Cloud editor tab and paste the "Search Engine ID" in the Google Search element and click on the "Update" button to save your work. Check the website preview and carry out a search using the newly added search element and check the results.
Configure Search Results
The Google Programmable Search Engine allows you to configure your search results. To access the configuration options, switch back to the Programmable Search Engine console tab and select your specific search engine and scroll down to the "Look and Feel" section and click on "All Look and Feel settings"
You will see these layout options.
If you have added the Google search element to the header of your website, we recommend the "Overlay" layout option, which will display the search results in a popup.
If you have a dedicated search page, you can add the Google Search element to the page and choose the "Results Only" layout option (or another layout option from the above list). The search results will display within your page.
By default, search results will display towards the left side of your page. To center align the search results, consider placing the Google Search element within a "Row" element and reduce its width to approximately 70% for the desktop.
