    Hi Gesa,

sorry for not getting back to you sooner.

Have you tried uploading your font using the Custom font option and setting it to the text on your Brizy pages? If a Google font is not set to any Brizy setting, it will not load.

A very easy solution is the WP-plugin
    "Self-Hosted Google Fonts".

A good description - in German - how to install the fonts manually on your server is here:

Dem Datenschutz zuliebe: wie ihr Google Fonts DSGVO-konform lokal in eure Webseiten einbindet

    Hello, I did that all!!

For one year I did these advices with all other page builders I used and it works.
This time with brizy it won’t work.
It still loading Lato, Montserrat and all Brizy google fonts that are default installed.

We (EU) all here cannot use brizy at the end cause of this… please help.
I will control the site again so NO Google font is used.
I load the new font (it is a Google Font) through your upload a new font that it is in brizy - should I do not use this upload?
    Should I used another plugin?

    Best wishes
    Gesa

    HI Gesa,

we know about this and it's already on the developer's to-do list. But, there are many features and fixes in the queue and we cannot ignore all the other things and solve the google font issue :). Please be understanding with us.

I have opened a ticket for you so please send there the link to your website and your login details. I'll check with our developers tomorrow to see if we can add a local trick to block google fonts on your site so you can deliver the project.

OK that is very nice, if you can tell me the trick later, cause I have to do it on one more site and next week on another site, and on my personal site too.

Yes, I will love it if you do so.

    THANK YOU!!!!

We will try, but the best solution will be if you have a little patience until we fix this overall :).

    @Gesa
I deleted the post because I was too hasty. I had overlooked that a connection to fonts.gstatic.com was still being established for the font Lato. So

@Alex: it would be good if there will be a solution as soon as possible...

But @ Gesa and to whom it may concern:

my current solution that works ! is a combination of "Self-hosted Google Fonts" and the solution from the link in my first post - but there - important !! - don't install the plugin 'Autoptimize' from fruttti as explained in the end, this job will be done by 'Seld-hosted-Google-Fonts' - and that very well, namely
cutting off the connection to the Google servers. (I had the problem that without the manual local installation of the fonts not all used fonts were loaded anymore).

    The order again:
    1. install fonts locally as described under the link
    2. don't !! follow the last step there - the installation of 'Autoptimize
    3. install, activate, set up 'Self-hosted Google Fonts' (I have all settings but the first one)
    4. load website - the first loading takes some time, do not panic
    5. check with Google Chrom Webdeveloper - and it looks good now -

    much success...

I also am very interested on this issue, but for performance on one of my customers site that was made using Brizy.

@Markus I tried with the option you said, I tried some different settings and even disabled Autoptimize (we need it for performance) and it didn't work. The fonts are still being loaded.

So I also hope they can do something about it! I don't understand why so many fonts are being loaded.

I have the fonts locally loaded manually. I tried also with the font manager. But neither of them worked to make the google fonts not to load (Lato, and Montserrat with all language sets and weights).

Attached a Screenshot from Google Page Speed as it shows all the font files loaded affecting performance.

Hi. I have also an issue with Google Fonts. I uploaded the fonts I use in Brizy and changed the font in every text section to the self-hosted version. Now, Brizy does not load any additional fonts from Google. That's fine.

However, Brizy still loads an CSS from Google though a link in the header:

    <link class="brz-link brz-link-google" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Montserrat:100,100italic,200,200italic,300,300italic,regular,italic,500,500italic,600,600italic,700,700italic,800,800italic,900,900italic|Noto+Serif:regular,italic,700,700italic|Roboto+Slab:100,300,regular,700|Khand:300,regular,500,600,700|Reem+Kufi:regular|EB+Garamond:regular,500,600,700,800,italic,500italic,600italic,700italic,800italic|Palanquin:100,200,300,regular,500,600,700|Overpass:100,100italic,200,200italic,300,300italic,regular,italic,600,600italic,700,700italic,800,800italic,900,900italic|Red+Hat+Text:regular,italic,500,500italic,700,700italic|DM+Serif+Text:regular,italic|Blinker:100,200,300,regular,600,700,800,900|Aleo:300,300italic,regular,italic,700,700italic|Nunito:200,200italic,300,300italic,regular,italic,600,600italic,700,700italic,800,800italic,900,900italic|Knewave:regular|Palanquin+Dark:regular,500,600,700|Roboto:100,100italic,300,300italic,regular,italic,500,500italic,700,700italic,900,900italic|Oswald:200,300,regular,500,600,700|Oxygen:300,regular,700|Playfair+Display:regular,italic,700,700italic,900,900italic|Fira+Sans:100,100italic,200,200italic,300,300italic,regular,italic,500,500italic,600,600italic,700,700italic,800,800italic,900,900italic|Abril+Fatface:regular|Comfortaa:300,regular,500,600,700|Kaushan+Script:regular|Lato:100,100italic,300,300italic,regular,italic,700,700italic,900,900italic&amp;subset=arabic,bengali,cyrillic,cyrillic-ext,devanagari,greek,greek-ext,gujarati,hebrew,khmer,korean,latin-ext,tamil,telugu,thai,vietnamese">

Is there a way to remove this link, e.g. with functions.php?

    Thank you for your help.

    Hi,

can you please confirm you have the latest Brizy versions - Free 1.0.126 and PRO 0.0.41? Also, did you delete these fonts from Brizy library: https://jmp.sh/3HEb8VB ? Do you have a minification plugin?

    0
  • Gunnar Strauch

    Hi Alex,

Thank you, I didn't know that I can delete the fonts from the library. However, I learned that Brizy still needs Lato. Therefore the above mentioned link is reduced to loading Lato. I guess that's all what's possible today.

    Hi,

How exactly can I help you? Did you upload custom fonts and delete google fonts from Brizy?

  • Dietmar Mugele

I've the same issue with Google fonts/server connection. Is there a solution for Brizy available in the meantime?

  • Alex

    Hi,

the same question for you: did you upload custom fonts and delete google fonts from Brizy? If you do not use any Google fonts and have deleted them from the Brizy library, the only font that will be loaded will be Lato.

  • Herbal Karim

hmm, Im free user, and just pro user can upload custom font?

  • Alex

yes. Custom font upload is a PRO feature.

    Same issue like Gunnar Strauch.

I uploaded the two OpenSans fonts. Only Lato can't be deleted. I have checked all my styles: no Lato is included.

I miss a fallback to a standard font like Arial.

    Hi Daniel,

Lato cannot be removed. Consider it as a default Brizy font.

    Hi Alex,

    Thank you!

Then I can unfortunately not use Brizy in Germany if fonts from Google must be loaded.

From what I know, our devs removed the Lato load from CSS so that it would not be under GDPR restrictions.

Hi, I had success in removing fonts references using an old plugin. it´s outdates but it worked.

    To the Brizy team:

Please explain, how to prevent Brizy from using the Google Fonts API.

I found no way to remove the Lato font, which causes Brizy to use the Google Fonts API.

At this time Brizy does not respect GDPR (DSGVO) regulations in the EU by not providing any option to disable Google Fonts! This must be fixed!

    Hi,

Lato is a default Brizy font so you can't delete it. Also, please check my previous comment: "our devs removed the Lato load from CSS so that it would not be under GDPR restrictions".

btw: now we are working on a solution to be able to delete Lato font. Most likely we will add an option so that you can upload a font that will replace the default Lato font.

    Hi Alex,

I've set up a test site to check this behavior. I deleted all fonts except Lato. There is still a CSS which connects to https://fonts.googleapis.com:

Please check with your developers again.

Do you have this on a clean WordPress installation? Do you have a CDN enabled for this site? I will send this screenshot to devs.
