    Hi Alex,

just to be sure, I made a new setup. This test-website has a single page with no content, browser cache emptied, all cookies deleted, all fonts deleted except Lato. I do not use CDNs.

    Hi

thank you for these details and for the effort. This will be resolved when we launch the option to set your own default font and delete Lato. Unfortunately, we don't have an ETA for this :/

May I suggest a feature that will offer two things:

    1. Disable and offload all fonts that are currently not used on any site of the WP instance.

    2. Auto download the remaining fonts from google into the local brizy setup and replace the google fonts with these.

This could be a manual procedure as well, as long as there is a easier way than to check every single subsite for used fonts and mess sth up on a live site on the way.

    Hi,

thanks for the suggestions. I will add these mentions on our internal desk. But most likely in the near future we will have the option in the form described above: an option where you can set your own default font so you can remove all the google fonts including Lato (which is default at the moment).

    Alex,

don't you see this is a GDPR-issue? When are you going to take care about it?

    @Phillip:

I hope you are aware that Brizy does not comply with GDPR (DSGVO), even with deactivated google fonts, because it uses server side cookies and there is no way to prevent this behavior.

    See this thread:

WP Brizy Cookie Information (Storage & Funktion)

Unfortunately the Brizy team does not take care about this since long time although it has been given many complaints from users.

    Hi,

am I missing something, or did the 10 January, 2022 update not include this feature set?

    Hi Philipp,

Unfortunately, this feature was not included in the last update, the team is still working on it. Sorry, I can not tell exactly when it will be released, we are hoping to get it as soon as possible.

    Best regards, Nelea.

This has reached a new level of urgency for your German users, since a judge declared the use of Google Fonts illegal last week. So we will have to find a solution fast or - change all of our sites or be liable.

    Hi Philipp,

We are very sorry for delay.

This option will be available in Brizy 2.4 version. At this moment we do not have ETA for release. Team is testing this update at the moment. We'll let you know when this specific will be released.

Thank you for understanding and patience.

    Best regards,
    Denis.

This week, the Munich Regional Court clarified in a ruling that the use of Google Fonts is contrary to the GDPR and imposed a corresponding fine on a website operator, see Philipps post above. It has been known for a long time that the use of Google Fonts violates the GDPR, and now any website operator who does so without the visitors' consent must expect to be fined. This applies not only in Germany, but throughout the EU.

Brizzy users have no way to prevent the use of the Google Font API. Even obtaining user consent does not help because every Brizzy website already connects to the Google Font API beforehand.

The Brizzy team has known for two years that there is a problem here. Now it is clear that every Brizzy user in the EU will face a fine for using the Google Font API.

Now you are seriously asking for "patience" and "understanding" and you can't even give a date for fixing this huge problem?

    Sorry, but this is ridiculous!

I am deeply disappointed! Who should seriously consider continuing to use Brizzy. Thanks to Full Site Editing since WordPress 5.9 there will be no reason very soon anyway.

Dimi said yesterday that with the next update (1-2 Month) the issue will be resolved.

Im using https://ffw.press/wordpress/omgf-pro/ in the meantime. Working totally fine.

    Hat aber 250 € gekostet…

    Hello Uli,

    Thank you for your message!

Regarding what you said, in Cloud you can remove the fonts. You use a local font, set it as default then remove the google font. In WordPress, please see this articles:

    1.https://wordpress.org/plugins/disable-remove-google-fonts/

    2. https://ffw.press/blog/how-to/remove-google-fonts-wordpress/

This is a temporary solution until the update will be made. This issue is going to be solved in the 2.4 version (where there is already a beta version), as my colleague mentioned above.  Hope this helps and made everything clear!

    With the best regards,

    Doina

    I can confirm:

By using OMGF (free) in default configuration, Brizy websites don't use the Google Font API anymore.

How can I delete all preinstalled fonts at once in Brizy 2.4?

It is very inconvenient to delete every single font individually and takes a long time.
