Cache issue
Hello,
I have a unique problem I hope you can help with.
I build hundreds of real estate sites using Brizy, a custom listings plugin and host it on Getflywheel's (a division of WPEngine) Google Cloud with FASTLY CDN.
The issue is with redirects happening when brizy is installed. i.e. https://louiselevesquerealestate.ca/
Once we launch a site, we usually have to add the listings page to a nocache file on the server. This ensures our search works on the listings page. However recently this has stopped working. Flywheel IT have traced it to the Brizy plugin adding a nocache as well which cancels out the original in the nocacache file. Below is a better explanation:
It does look like our cache exclusion is working properly, however there's a redirect occurring before that: https://i.getf.ly/6quGe4pj . The second request loads a cache status of MISS, but you can see an additional call before that which is basically wiping any search parameters out. I spun up a clone of your site, logged in so I had caching disabled and tested plugin disabling. Once I had the brizy plugin disabled the redirect disappeared and I could properly search. No redirect here: https://i.getf.ly/geuyzN2o. I think the reason it wasn't showing that when deactivated earlier is that you were still dealing with browser caching, which logging in prevents.
In order to resolve this, I would suggest reaching out to the plugin developers to find out where the redirect is coming from. From our end, everything is set correctly.
The breakdown doesn't have anything to do with the server as far as I can tell. The reason Team Realty would be working is that there is no initial redirect happening. You type in a search prompt and are taken to those listings- works just fine. That's not happening on Louise Levesque because once you enter a search prompt, the site redirects itself back to the listings page first, in essence resetting any search query you've entered. I can confirm that the listings page is properly excluded from caching because once the redirect resolves, the site loads with a cache status of MISS. The same redirect behavior happens when logged into the site(caching disabled), which furthers that it's a result of the redirect and not caching.
I was able to narrow down that redirect disappearing once the brizy plugin is disabled. I'm not 100% sure why this seems to function on your other site perfectly though. Being that the plugin developers are going to be experts on their plugin, they will be the best people to talk to about where the hang up is coming from. I transferred my clone over to you which can be found here: https://app.getflywheel.com/curiousprojects/louise-levesque-clone . This has the brizy plugin disabled and you can see that the functionality of the search bar is working. I would provide the plugin developers the context of this ticket and potentially the clone site to test with.

Hi Bill,
Thanks for all the details. I have few questions to understand the problem better. You said
Once we launch a site, we usually have to add the listings page to a nocache file on the server. This ensures our search works on the listings page.
- How does excluding the listing page from the cache help? If you do not exclude the listing page from the cache, what goes wrong with your website?
- What steps should we take to reproduce the problem you are facing with https://louiselevesquerealestate.ca/ at out end?
Please include screenshots or screen recording to demonstrate the issue if possible.
