Blog Setup - Brizy WP
Hello! I am designing a blog with Brizy WP Pro for the first time.
The below image is an archive element. How do I make the excerpt smaller? Is there a way to choose the number of lines that appears or something like that?

-
Hi Sofia,
Please consider using the plugin Advanced Excerpt to set the length of your post excerpts. You can also add excerpt to your blog posts manually in the Gutenberg Editor. https://jmp.sh/jyGz0d9 This allows you to manually control the excerpt length.

Hello again KC!
So sorry for keeping you busy on a Monday!!
1. Please see the below image of the comment element. I chose the WordPress option. I don't see that there's a way to change all the colors. So basically what happens now is that there are no boxes for the name, email, and website fields until I click on where the boxes should be and then a yellow box comes up. I am putting a screen shot below (the first one is from the front end, the live page). The second screenshot is from the builder, where the element appears already with sample comments but without a way to customize those things. How can I solve this?

2. Here, I am trying to pull dynamic data with a text element and then input: #categories #tags from Brizy.
The category shows well, both in the archive templates (below screenshots) and the single post template. But the tags don't show in either one of them. See below how I applied them exactly the same way I did for categories.

Here's another thing that's happening... Both the text on the top of the image (that's the content text) and the text on the bottom of this image (that's a "related post" excerpt) are set up as "paragraph" typography.
I have configured global styling and I have also put the code you gave me for the font sizes on the theme CSS.
But these two bits of text look completely different.
Sorry, I am not sure if these things are little bugs of the system or if it's me who's doing something wrong.
But I'll keep notes of your answers for the future :)

Hi Sofia,
Please see my comments below.
- Comments field border color: Please check the form border color set in your theme. Under Appearance - Customize - General - Form Elements - please change the Text Area border color. https://jmp.sh/WLJfx4P
- Tags: Can you please confirm if you have added Tags to different blog posts in Gutenberg? https://jmp.sh/kkzMqm8
- Paragraph Font: You are right; both the blog post Content and Excerpt are set to Paragraph typography; but it is not displaying correctly for some reason. I wonder if this is happening due to a possible conflict with Legal Assistant Pro - EU Cookie Law, Terms & Privacy Generator plugin. Please deactivate this plugin and see if that helps. If it does not, I will need to look into your project to help you fix this.

Hi KC! Hope you're well.
The paragraph font is not displaying correctly on blog posts (content). I deactivated the plugins but I guess this is the same issue that Brizy has with all the other typography on Blog Posts because so far I only noticed the problem there. So basically, it could be the same that was happening with the H1-H6? Is there an additional piece of code to force the paragraph font to show the correct numbers?

Regarding the blog post tags, I did add "test" tags to posts in Gutenberg, just like the categories. :)

Please see below how I setup the categories and tags on Brizy:

And how it shows on an incognito window/front end:

I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you very much, Sofia0 -
Hi Sofia,
To set the blogpost paragraph font size, please try inserting this CSS to the desktop, tablet and mobile sections of your existing CSS. You can add it below the media query and above the first heading CSS like in this image. https://jmp.sh/6kwZNbC Please ensure that the paragraph font sizes for desktop, tablet and mobile in your Global Typography match with the this CSS.
.brz .brz-css-bwwuj *:not(h1):not(h2):not(h3):not(h4):not(h5):not(h6):not(b):not(strong):not(i):not(span) {font-size: 18px;}
There are two ways you can add dynamic data to a blog post. Please try this alternate approach to adding dynamic content. https://jmp.sh/qfJQXsy0 -
Hi KC! Thank you for your help. I changed the tags, that worked. Thank you!
For the paragraph text the code didn't work though :( I am sorry. I would keep it but I honestly think it's very small as it is right now. Is there anything else I can try? Is this a common issue or am I doing something wrong?

Hi Sofia,
I tested the CSS I gave you and it worked at my end. If you can give me access to your WordPress Dashboard, I can try to make the CSS work on your project.

Thank you so much KC! Sorry for the trouble. I have sent you the link. :)

HI Sofia,
I tried accessing your WordPress admin. It gives me this error. Do you need to add my IP to the whitelist for me to access your server? My IP is 202.164.138.204
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access this resource.

Oops sorry for that!!
The access is via: https://thecoastdigital.com/go
And I have added your IP :) The security plugin also asked me to do some changes:

Hi Sofia,
This is what happens when I try to access your website. https://jmp.sh/BpbeTSB
Whitelisting my IP does not seem to have helped. Should I look at your screen during a Zoom screen sharing session? Or do you want to disable security temporarily?

Wow I'm so sorry KC! Sorry to waste your time. I don't understand. But I have deactivated the security plugin for now, so the login will again be via https://thecoastdigital.com/wp-admin/

Hi Sofia,
I could get access (finally). Please check your blogposts now. I have added the CSS for the paragraph font.

Hi KC! I am sorry for the trouble. I am glad you could finally get in :)
Did you find out what the problem was? Is this a bug on Brizy like the headings or something related to another plugin? I saw that the CSS is now different.
But unfortunately, this fix won't work because it disfigures other parts of the text I had previously setup on different areas of the website. Is there a way to apply it only for the blog content paragraph?
For example, I created (in Brizy) a special styling called "disclosures". Those currently have text on the footer and also on the blog post template just below the featured images. And they are now the same styling as the paragraph text that is on the "body" of the blog content.
Now, I notice that when I try to update anything at all, nothing responds to what I am doing anymore. I guess this is because the CSS is overriding Brizy. So anything I may do with Brizy builder in the future won't work I guess? But then even for other pages like the home where I might want to put different text formats, it won't respond to anything. Even when I use "custom" styling instead of using the global styling nothing is changing now.
Looking forward to your feedback. Thank you so much for your time!

Hi Sofia,
I am sorry I could not fully understand the problem you are facing. Please watch this video. https://jmp.sh/nSYBYsg Can you elaborate what changes are not getting updated?
0 -
Hi KC! Oh that's so weird. What you show in the video is exactly what doesn't work for me. That text you used for the example (the affiliate disclosure on the footer) and also the text under my blog post image (also an affiliate disclaimer), is what I tried to change. But on my computer, it doesn't update like on yours.
While on your computer I see that the text gets bigger and smaller, on mine it doesn't happen... Specifically for those two pieces of text, I tried to use the Typography that I called "Disclosures" (it's a new formatting that I created in the Brizy styling), but it stays with the looks of the paragraph.
I don't know how to record my screen and voice like you do, but I am sending you a screenshot below. So you can see that what is selected on the first image I am showing you is the disclosure in which the typography is called "Disclosures". And on the second image I am showing you the content of the blog post, for which the typography is "Paragraph".
As you can see, I have these two different typographies selected, one is size 15 and the other is size 18, but the text on my computer looks exactly the same size (only the Italic and the spacing between the lines is different). When I open the site on my phone, it always looks like both pieces of text are the same size.

Now I see clearly that the confusion comes from the fact that we're actually seeing different things. I already cleaned my cache. Do you think this has anything to do with my browser? I am using Chrome on a Mac.
Just to clarify further, also when I manually change the size of any piece of text by clicking the up and down arrows next to "Size"/"PX" on the small Brizy pannel, the numbers change and the Typography also changes to "custom", but on the actual page nothing happens. Hence why I was saying in the previous message that nothing happens ahah... I see that for you it does, but on my screen, it stays exactly with the same format, like you see in the pictures.

Hi Sofia,
Please try these
- Clear cached images and file in Google Chrome: Please watch this video for the procedure. https://jmp.sh/RdEq3a1
- Sign in to your WordPress Dashboard from an Incognito window in your browser and see if the problem persists (see the attached image)
- Try using an alternate browser and see if that helps (like Safari)

Dear KC,
It seems like I'm finally finding my way around the builder and I've been setting up the rest of my website without issues. But the other day after upgrading the Brizy plugins (free and pro) my blog template got "damaged". The entire page shrank as if I has put margins on both sides. But I didn't change any setting actually. I waited a few days to see if it would go back but it didn't.
I have the page "boxed" at 100% like I had before, but the columns got a lot smaller in the middle. Someone on Facebook suggested going back to the older version of the plugin but before removing Brizy and adding it again, I wanted to know your opinion?
And also how will I know when it's safe to upgrade again?
Tahank you in advance, Sofia

Hi Sofia,
This issue does not appear linked to the Brizy update as I have noted in my remark on your Facebook post. Can you please try this?
Please check if the content width remains small when opening your pages in the Brizy editor in a private (Incognito) window of your browser.

Additionally, you might want to try logging into your WordPress Dashboard using a different browser to see if it makes a difference.

Hello Brizy team! Hi KC!
I have been away for a few days but my blog template continues to give me problems. I don't understand what's going on. I have cleaned the cache already a million times, used an incognito window and even looked at it from another device.
In the pictures below, you'll see 2 shots (one logged in and another not logged in). Ad you'll see on the right of the screen I'll fully scroll to the top of the page, but you only see the end of the sample blog post. There's nothing above that because it doesn't scroll up any further. But, as you have seen before, I did design a whole blog post template.
Why is my blog continuing to run into these issues? I'll look forward to hearing from you. Please help me understand how to avoid these issues.
Thank you very much, Sofia

To add to the above:
From the backend, as you see in the below images, there's a lot more to my blog template.
But it doesn't look good either. See how it's still kind of shrank to the middle of the page?
This makes it very hard to continue working with the design as I cannot see it correctly from either the back nor the front end.

Hi Sofia,
I have recreated your blog post template and the blog posts are working fine again. I could not find what the issue was. Please check if everything works as intended.
