Pop-up menu content and shop page
Hi,
I've designed my header with Brizy and assigned 2 menus. Hamburger icon for the main menu and 'Shop' menu yet to be made into a mega menu.
For the main menu, I've created a pop-up with buttons. I would like to know how to edit the buttons on the pop-up, so I can link them to the relevant pages.
The shop page that was built on installation by the theme didn't show the product archive, so I added it with a shortcode. I would like to know how I could add more sorting features to the archive page with Brizy on a sidebar. Since Brizy's content panel appears on the left-hand side, I'm not sure how I could drag any content underneath that, only allowing me to add them to the top of the product archive. Even then, the only option I could work out so far is to have the 'featured products' displayed, which is not my desired option. Instead, I would like to give sorting options on category, colour, material and price range (sample in attached picture).
Cheers,
Chinthaka

Hi Chinthaka,
Let me answer your questions one by one.
- Adding links to buttons: You can add links to buttons by clicking on the 'link' icon (see the first attached image)
- Editing behind the Brizy Elements panel: When you are editing full width pages, the Brizy Elements panel can overlap with part of your page design. As a work around, please set the width of the block 'Boxed' in the Block settings (see the second attached image). Once you make the necessary changes reset the block width to 'Full'
- Woocommerce Products Filter: You would need a woocommerce product filter plugin to allow filtering of products based on price and other parameters. Have a look at these options. Some of the plugins are free while others are premium. https://kinsta.com/blog/woocommerce-product-filter/

Hi George,
Thanks again for the detailed explanations. My problem with the pop-up is that though, I can't access it to do the edits. I can see the ones I've created in the saved section (second picture) but once they're connected to the menu they don't load in the developer view but only in preview, which doesn't let me edit (first picture). Thanks.

Hi
Here is how you can edit the on-click menu you have added to a hamburger icon. https://jmp.sh/YUMHffJ

Thanks again for the quick response. When I click there though, the dialogue box doesn't show any content. After closing it with the x and go to upload window like in the last post, I can see the pop-ups I made. But then the problem I mentioned above arises again

Hi
May be I don't fully understand the issue you are facing. Should I take a look at your website? If you would like me to, please add me as a user to your WordPress Dashboard. My email: kc.george@brizy.io. Please enable the option "Send the new user an email about their account" as in this screenshot https://jmp.sh/tSRznJX
Once you have sent me an invitation, please let me know here.

Hi George,
Thank you very much for the offer. I enabled access for you already some days ago, and it should still be active. Please let me know If it doesn't work. Cheers

Hi Chinthaka,
When you click on the hamburger icon, and then on the link icon, it takes a while for the popup thumbnail to load. Before the popup thumbnail loads, if you click on the blank space you can't edit the popup. Please wait a little for the popup thumbnail to show up and then if you can click on it you can edit the popup. Please see this video. https://jmp.sh/8ctszkF

Hi George,
Thank you very much for testing it out. I'm glad to see that it's working the way it supposes to. But when I do it, it still doesn't show the pop-up. I have these loading problems with other saved blocks also. Everything else works fine and fast. Could this be a cache problem or something to do with the internet connection? Thanks

Hi Chinthaka,
Please try removing the Brizy Maintenance Mode and use a plugin instead. https://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-put-your-wordpress-site-in-maintenance-mode/

Thanks again for the valuable tip. I'll try that out.

Hi George,
The problem of thumbnail not loading is still persisting even after all those steps. I additionally ran the WP Optimizer also, but the site is still pretty slow. As shown in the picture, the saved library blocks also take a while to show. Is there anything you could suggest I could do before looking to change the hosting provider?

Hi Chinthaka
Hosting appears to be the problem. Please consider upgrading to the Cloud plan from your hosting provider. https://www.hetzner.com/cloud

To confirm that the hosting is the issue, please consider this test. Hetzner has hourly billing for the Cloud plan. You can sign up for the Cloud plan for a day or two and carry out the following test. As per the hourly billing, your cost for the test should be within 1 USD.
- Remove the maintenance mode temporarily and do a GTMetrix test of your current website.
- Sign up with the Cloud plan and migrate your website to the new hosting account and do a GTMetrix test (on the new hosting account).
- Compare the reports and decide if it is worth upgrading to the Cloud plan.

This is great! Thank you very much for going to this length to find the potential root cause.

Hi George,
This is not Brizy related but since it belong to this conversation thread, I would greatly appreciate if you could point me towards some learning resources to resolve my current issues;
1) I'm already hosted in a cloud server, but it seems to be quite slow. Is there any resource I could check out on how to transfer the site from the existing cloud to Hetzner cloud?
2) If I do a clean installation on Hetzner cloud, will my current Brizy licence be invalid?
Cheers, Chinthaka

Hi Chinthaka,
- You need a migration plugin to migrate your existing WordPress website to Hetzner Cloud. Please consider these options. https://kinsta.com/blog/wordpress-migration-plugins/
- You can delink your Brizy license from your current website and activate it on a new website. If you do a fresh install on Hetzner cloud, you can use a new license and later delink your Brizy licence from your current website.

Thank you very much.

Hi George,
I went through few tutorials on how to set up Hetzner and install WP on it. For a non-techy like me, setting up the cloud, Ubuntu/nginx set up and creating databases seems quite challenging but still doable. But I would like to know whether using a service like TryDirect (https://youtu.be/jt3b5W2RWGg) is as effective?
Thanks in advance

Hi Chinthaka,
Please have a look at an alternate option with Cloudways.com. You can consider setting up a Digital Ocean server in Frankfurt or another location close to you. The option in this screenshot will cost you USD 10 per month. https://jmp.sh/xRhKhnh The server setup process is fully automated and it takes around 7 minutes to setup a server.
You can carryout the experiment I had suggested with Cloudways as well.
- Setup a server
- Migrate your website to Cloudways and enable server side caching
- Do a GTMetrix performance test and compare the results
Cloudways has per hour billing. You would approximately spend 1 USD for the experiment. Once you have completed your tests you have the option to delete the server if you do not wish to use it.
