Best hosting for Google Page Speed / May 2022 Algorithm Update / Cache plugin?
Hi there,
Hoping someone from the community and/or Brizy can help with this.
I currently build most of my sites using Brizy Pro + Namecheap Easy WP + WP Fastest Cache.
Lots of these sites have taken a hit recently, I think due to the Google algorithm update. But if I'm honest, they haven't ever scored terribly high on the google page speed tester.
I'm based in the UK.
Can anyone recommend a good host + caching plugin that gets them great results for google page speed? Preferably if you're based in the UK as that must have an effect.
Any information and recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Jason

Hi Jason,
Hosting may not be the primary culprit for poor performance. Can you please share your URL. May be there are other factors which are causing bad performance. Possibly we can suggest some areas of improvement.

Hi Jason,
I have looked at the waterfall of your website. Please go through my observations and suggestions for performance improvement.
- Few requests are going to calendly.com. Are you using Calendly on your website? If not, remove the script
- I see several requests going to stripe.com. Are you using Stripe payment on your website? If not, please remove it.
- I see that you are using 4 different analytics software on your website. Segment, Pendo, OneTrust and Heap Are all these four essential? If not remove the non essential scripts.
- You are using an external GDPR compliance script from CookieLaw Consider removing this script and using a GDPR compliance WordPress plugin to improve page performance. Look through these plugins https://popupsmart.com/blog/best-gdpr-plugins-for-wordpress
- Two of your images are taking unusually long time to load. Remove those images and reupload and see if those images would load faster.

Hi George,
Mant thanks for this, I will get to work on these improvements soon!
My other site: cumbriaweb.design
Can you advise if this is a hosting problem?
ThanksJason

Hi Jason,
Your agency website looks optimized for performance; it makes just 25 requests and loads within 1.4 seconds. Time To First Byte is 274 ms which is quite good. I don't see a need for changing hosting for this website.

Hi George,
Thanks for looking at this. However, Google does not appear to agree? See below. Any ideas?

Hi Jason,
My earlier comment was about real-life performance from a website visitor's perspective. If a website loads within 1.4 seconds, most users would consider it a fast website.
Scoring high on a performance test like PSI is a slightly different topic; let's talk about it. A well developed Brizy website can get a Pagespeed Insights mobile score of 60-90 and a desktop score of 90-100. For example, have a look at my test website. https://multisite.kctest.online/ This is using a Brizy premade design. I am hosting this website on a low cost shared hosting plan with ionos.com. These are the mobile and desktop scores.

Here is the GT Metrix score.

Even though your agency website is quite fast, I guess there is some scope for improvement if you are thinking about performance score.
