    Hi David,

It is possible to develop Category Archive Templates with Brizy Cloud. If you would like to redesign your restaurant listing website using category archive templates, these are the steps

    1. Define American Diner, British/ Irish, Chinese, Hong Kong, Indian, Japanese etc as Cuisines and link Cuisines as a taxonomy to restaurants (Taxonomies for custom assets are similar to categories for blogposts)
    2. Develop a category archive template for your Cuisines. The category archive template can include a list of Cuisines with links to its respective cuisine (category) pages. Make all the blocks in the category archive template global and add the Display Condition "All Categories". The design you have created for your category archive template will apply to all your cuisines by making the blocks global.

Please watch this video for an example of a category archive template. https://jmp.sh/UzNrkmz

    Hi Kc,

I'm following your instructions...unfortunately I got the following message & the menu/custom assets section is not loading.

This is a very large directory site, so can you increase the limits or show me a workaround?

    Cheers.

    David

    Hi David,

We are working on a new Brizy Cloud update today. Hopefully this update should fix this issue. We will keep you informed

    Hi Kc,

It looks like my assets menu has returned, but that the URL link is still not working...are you going to fix this with the update?

    Regards,

    David

    Hi Kc,

    1. Define American Diner, British/ Irish, Chinese, Hong Kong, Indian, Japanese etc as Cuisines and link Cuisines as a taxonomy to restaurants (Taxonomies for custom assets are similar to categories for blogposts).

I can see All Posts with a subcategory of 'Categories' in the sidebar, but not 'Taxonomies' for custom assets.

I have 'Collections' in the sidebar...do I use 'Restaurants' as a 'Collection', then how do I set up Chinese, Hong Kong etc. as Cuisines in this hierarchy?

The terminology is quite confusing, so please use the exact terms used in the sidebar.

Also, I tried this months ago (i.e. a 'Collection' named 'British & Irish Restaurants with sub-listings of 'Restaurants' 'Indian Restaurants' & 'Italian Restaurants'...see screen shot) but I think I got it wrong & want to delete this entire collection...but it won't let me due to the black box saying 'you cannot delete this item, it is referenced in....). I've tried to delete all the related assets but still I cannot.

Please help by providing an answer relating to assets & not posts.

    Cheers,

    Regards,

    David

    Hi David,

We have made deleting custom assets somewhat difficult with Brizy Cloud. This is to prevent accidental deleting of custom assets.

    1. Delete all the individual custom assets added.
    2. Delete all the additional custom fields added
    3. Delete the custom asset

Please have a look at the new video I have made for the procedure to develop the category archive templates for the custom asset taxonomies. https://jmp.sh/O4ommM8

I am sorry, I could not understand what you mean by "the URL link is still not working". Can you elaborate?

    Hi Kc,

Thanks for doing that video...much appreciated!

With regards to the last query, this is an old issue with the custom asset not showing the URL link (see 2x screenshots). You know this is an issue & suggested using a standard text field instead of the URL field, which works.

I was just wondering if you were looking again at this issue following your update?

    Regards,

    David

    Hi Kc,

I've been making some progress with the custom assets, but I'm stuck again.

I've set up 2 types of restaurants & linked them to the right cuisines, and they are populating on the right pages.

My next issue is that I have 2 taxonomies for 'Restaurants' - 'Cuisines' & 'Locations'. Now 'Cuisines' shows all the Italian (for example) restaurants over all 11 locations, which is fine for an 'Island Wide' listing of everything.

I want to include a set of buttons at the top that will take them only to the Italian restaurants found in (again, for example) in the town of Newport.

How can I include this option on the same page? Do I have to set up a new 'Posts' block for 'Locations'? If so, how?

As you can see from the screenshots below, I need to link the buttons in the hero section to the locations & when I set up a new block for Italian Restaurants in Newport, I select 'Current Query' & then 'Locations' in the drop down box. This produces no listings, however, and I'm not sure how to set up the taxonomies to make this work.

Any help would be much appreciated...

    Regards,

    David

    Hi David,

While you can add two taxonomies to an asset in Brizy Cloud, you cannot use it for listing. You may have to setup the project manually without using taxonomies. With the custom assets and taxonomy feature within Brizy Cloud, it would be difficult to implement this project.

You may need to consider moving to WordPress. It would be much easier and better to implement the project using a directory plugin. https://kinsta.com/blog/wordpress-directory-plugins/

You can create it by adding 2 post elements and setting conditions. It is working for my test blog

    Hi Kc,

I've put over 500 hours into this site, so I'm not going to move it over to WP now! I'm using a workaround with some manual duplicate entry showing the restaurant & the location under the same custom asset.

However, I have noticed a big issue that needs urgently sorting, relating to using a plain text field instead of your (currently broken) URL field. As suggested, I used a plain text, then went in to link the text field to the URL in the front end.

This works fine when there's only one entry as a taxonomy, but for more than one, each new URL is overwritten by the previous one. Please see 3 screenshots below.

Please advise if you can fix this? It's going to mess up all my custom fields in its current state.

    Hi David,

Please watch this video for the procedure to add a text with a hyperlink using Brizy Cloud custom fields. https://jmp.sh/qR6KZKC

Please use this format for adding the hyperlink to your text

    <a href="https://www.something.com">Your Link Text</a>

    Hi Kc,

That's fixed the link problem, leaving me with one last issue. As per the screenshot below, the backend is showing as white text, whereas the front end is showing as black & orange text & they both show as underlined on hover, which I don't want to happen.

    1. How can I change the text colour on the front end without changing the orange preset, (which I presume dictates the colour of the links?), so that all my colour scheme isn't disrupted?

    2. Why has the first text turned black?

    3. How can I get rid of the underline?

Cheers & thanks for the help.

    David

    Hi David,

I am sorry; I could not understand your questions well. I may need to take a look at your project to better understand your questions. In this video, I am trying to answer your first question https://jmp.sh/Ue7leqL

If you need help with the other two questions, please invite me as a Team Member to your project.

    Hi Kc,

Thanks for the video. I also worked out that if I import black text directly into Brizy, it sometimes shows up as black text in the front end, but not always.

Sorry the underline question is not clear. The line in my screenshot is an actual imported element line from the dashboard.

My question relates to URL links. On hover, and on clicking, the link displays an underline, which I feel is old fashioned and clunky (see screenshot).

Is there a line of code I can insert that stops the underline from appearing? If so, how do I do this?

    David

    Hi David,

Please try this code to remove the underline on hover for hyperlinked texts

    a {
     text-decoration: none!important;
    }

    Hi Kc,

Ok. Where exactly do I add this code?
