Desktop site is fast / Mobile is slow

So I created a website that loads fast and gets good scores on GTMetrix. However, although Google Page Speed gives high scores for the desktop, the mobile version gets terrible scores.

For the background of the hero section I use a video hosted through Vimeo. This is viewable on the desktop page but, as I understand, Brizy doesn't allow for the video on the mobile. SO I expected mobile to be super fast because it's not using the video.

However, GPS says mobile version is slowing down 400ms trying to get that video. In reference to Vimeo it says: "Third-party code can significantly impact load performance. Limit the number of redundant third-party providers and try to load third-party code after your page has primarily finished loading."

Any help getting this mobile page speed up?

  If you add a background video to a page, even if the video does not play on a mobile device, it gets downloaded since it is part of the page. As an experiment, remove the background video and test the performance of your page with Pagespeed Insights. You are likely to see an improvement. 

  If you desire to improve the Pagespeed Insights score, you may need to get rid of the background video.

  Oh bummer.

  Do you know if there are plans to allow this video to play on mobile—especially since it's already being loaded?

  Brizy does allow videos to play in mobile devices as well. However browsers have strict rules to prevent auto playing of videos especially with sound. This poses some challenges in making it work.
