Brizy Cloud sites - backups
Is there a way to create a backup of a brizy cloud site and restore it if something happens to the site e.g. a client screws up the editing?
-
Hi Paul,
At the moment you can't do that but we have this on the feature requests list. I would recommend that every time you finish a page to use the Save Layout option so that you have a copy of the page in case the client changes something.

The backup function has been on the roadmap since almost the beginning but never gets to 'in process'. I have lost faith that it will ever be available.
Saving each page is a pain especially since there is not a way to create a folder to keep blocks or pages for a single project together and everytime yo SAve Layout it creates a new one so you have to go and find the previous saved version and delete it.
This issue is what has stopped me from using Brizy Cloud on more projects.

I am moving clients from WordPress to Brizy Cloud for its ease of use. But sure enough, my client deleted her website the first time she touched it.

Hi Samantha,
Thank you for contacting us.
I'm sorry to hear this and we're sorry we can't help you at the moment. When you delete a project from Brizy Cloud you have to tap the word Delete in a special box, so you'd don't delete the project only with one click. Please see here. I think your client knew for sure that she was deleting this project.
Best regards, Nelea.

Thanks. I guess she technically didn't delete the project, just all of the content in the project. I honestly don't know how. I am now using the Save Layout option mentioned above as a workaround. I just wanted to let you know that the target audience - people who aren't technical enough to maintain a WordPress site themselves - also seem capable of destroying their Cloud site. :)

Hi Samantha,
Yes, this is a problem too. Thank you for your notice.
Best regards, Nelea.

This is yet another example of why Brizy is so exasperating!!!!!
This VITALLY needed if freelancers are to use Brizy Cloud for clients. It is not an OPTIONAL luxury; it is desperately NEEDED. I have just made a big (for me) investment in brizy cloud hosting - but I cannot with confidence create sites and hand them over to clients without the ability to create backups. They should really be created automatically...

Hi Charles,
Our team is working on this opinion, but we can not do all the work in a few mounts, it needs time. There are many features that we want to add, but we can't physically add them as quickly as we want, there are a lot of tasks in our to do list. Everything is on our list and we are constantly improving and extending elements, features, and more. We kindly ask you for your patience because becouse we will strive to make it happen as soon as possible.
Best regards, Nelea.

With all due respect - this is vitally important and it has been on the list for over 2 years!
As I said 9 months ago - I have lost all hope that this will ever be available to us and it is what is stopping me from actively using my Brizy Agency account. I pay every month hoping that i'll finally be able to use it but without a backup feature there is no way I'll risk it.

Hi Paul,
I understand your frustration, but this feature it is of course on the list, but on the list, we have a lot of things with different priorities. We have a lot of requests from our users and they all are on our to-do list. Though, there are some bugs or issues that we prioritise first and try to solve them in the first place! At the moment I can tell for sure that we are working on this feature and it will be released in the future but I cannot give an exact ETA.
We are sorry that this is not done yet but we are working on it!
Best regards, Nelea.

I hate Trello (which is where you will direct me, but where I won't go)... but I would seriously like to see a list of the things which you think are a higher priority than this!! A decent, easy to use, and site-wide backup facility must surely be an essential feature of any pagebuilder on the cloud which is genuinely expecting its users to hand sites over to clients...

Hi Charles,
I apologize, but we do not have access to priority things, only our managers have this information. So I can't give you this list.
Best regards, Nelea.

I appreciate that. I was not expecting to actually see a list!

At 1:00:21 Dimi said that there is a backup but we need to send them an email and they will restore the backup for us.
Is this now positive or not? My client just deleted something and I would love to restore the backup from yesterday.

Hi
Even for us, it is not an easy process to restore a deleted page. It is a manual process. Can you share with the URL of the page/pages that need restoration. We will see what we can do.

Thanks, George. I just checked with my client and the missing pages are not randomly gone. A coworker deleted two pages on purpose. It would be great to have a trash bin like in WordPress. But for now I'm relieved.

I agree with Paul. It has been over 2 years and why hasnt Brizy provided a simple backup option?
I guess the only alternative is to use the export HTML option when publishing the page. Save a local copy then change your publishing preference to what it was before.
Please provide an update on this request as it's integral for any web designer.

Hi Joseph,
Thank you for reaching out to us.
We appreciate your input and understand the importance of this feature for your needs.
Unfortunately, at this time, we do not have any updates on the availability of this feature or an estimated time for its release.
Our development team is currently focused on many other priorities, and the development period for this feature is unpredictable.
For now, you can use "Duplicate Entire Projects in Brizy Cloud."

Hallo,
I would also like to add my voice to the view that backup is essential. In almost 20 years of practice, my experience tells me that it is the absolute MOST IMPORTANT thing for functioning in the digital world. Any project without backup capability runs the ultimate risk of extinction.
Thanks to Ariel for the comment about the possibility of duplicating projects. This will at least help a bit in case of "defense against client error".
At the same time, I'm interested in how to protect my and client projects at a higher level. There must be a way to back up the entire project or workspace to an external server. After all, this has been quite common and normal for several years now, in the world of professional services in the digital realm. As such, I understand that Brizy as a company has some way of ensuring this, and at the same time it would be welcome for many colleagues and Brizy users to be able to set up some custom backups. This is not an expression of distrust on my part, but speaks from experience. I used to rely very "hard" on the backups of a hosting/server provider that lost 80% of the backups on servers around the world due to attacks. Some clients received backups about six months old, others received no backups at all. Until a person has something like this happen to them, experiences it first hand, they probably can't fully put themselves in the situation and imagine the consequences. I never want to experience what I experienced again. A lot of companies have had to close down, have gone bankrupt. Lost clients. It cost me my health and my nerves and my money. That's why I welcome any extra option to back up important data and not leave it solely to the server operator. Once again - this is not an expression of distrust towards Briza, but an experience ;)
I completely understand that there are many tasks and it is impossible to get everything done at once. And Brizy is clearly moving forward, and the ability to duplicate projects, which I am hugely grateful for, is proof of that. At the same time, I would like to ask the Brizy Team to consider priorities and bring the matter of backing up projects from Brizy Cloud to the (own) external server to a final conclusion as soon as possible. This functionality will also contribute to a better marketing image of Brizy Cloud, of this I am firmly convinced. In any case, have the best of luck everyone,

Hi Mark,
Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding the importance of backups.
I completely understand your concerns and the need for a higher level of project protection. Rest assured, we are aware of this request and actively working on a solution.
To make your request even stronger, I encourage you to post it on our development roadmap page at https://www.brizy.io/ideas-and-roadmap. This will allow other users who require the same feature to vote on it, giving it better priority in our development roadmap. We value the input of our users and strive to prioritize features that are in high demand.
We appreciate your understanding, and I want to assure you that Brizy is continuously evolving. The ability to duplicate projects, which you mentioned, is just one example of our progress. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.
Best regards,
Ariel H.0
