Significant Issue with Brizy WP Plugin - complete loss of function
My organization recently began migrating from Divi by Elegant Themes to Brizy due to ease of use concerns. We originally used Divi to create our intranet resource along with many forms (Formidable Forms) that our employees use every day and are listed on the site. We began using Brizy for functional/aesthetic reasons and concerns surrounding long-term upkeep (no one on my team is a dedicated web developer). Over the past several months, we built a new intranet resource on the same WordPress account and had planned on deleting the old Divi theme when we made the new Brizy pages active.
After Brizy update 2.3.15 was released, my team noted that we lost all Brizy function on the same day. We still have the basic HTML but all styling and other features are no longer appearing on our pages made with Brizy. The subsequent updates (I believe the most recent to be 2.3.17 now) have not yielded any different results.
After following several support suggestions on the forum here, we attempted to fix this problem ourselves by uninstalling Brizy and Brizy Pro plugins, and then reinstalling. We were able to uninstall the plugins but could not reinstall. When going through the WP plugin wizard didn’t work, we attempted manual reinstalls using the .zip files available on the Brizy site, but this yielded the same error messages.
We referred the issue to our IT support, who attempted to fix the issue and were unable to find what the problem was. They were able to make us a development site that is a carbon copy of our intranet Wordpress that we are currently using to diagnose the problem. We believe that the problems came from a compatibility issue between Divi and Brizy, but we’re not sure. We have since removed Divi completely from the dev site and are using the default Wordpress theme.
Now, when attempting a Brizy reinstall, we get the error message “destination folder already exists”. This seems to be an issue that can be corrected by deleting the Brizy files from cPanel – however, we are concerned that this would result in us losing all progress made on our previous build, which effectively amounts to months of work between myself and the rest of my team. Assistance with troubleshooting the problem and regaining our progress would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Dan!
Thank you for your message.
I am really glad that you found the solution to your issues with Brizy in the end.
As I can understand, from your story, now your website is working well?
In the case with mentioned error “destination folder already exists”:
This error occurs when you are trying to install a WordPress theme or plugin. WordPress extracts your plugin or theme’s zip file into a folder named after the file itself.
If a folder with the same name already exists, then WordPress aborts the installation with the following error message:
Destination folder already exists. /home/user/example.com/wp-content/plugins/wpforms/
Plugin install failed.
The first thing that you should do is visit your themes or plugins page to see if you have it already installed on your site.
If it isn’t already installed, then this could mean two things:
1. A previous attempt to delete the plugin or theme didn’t succeed, and it left the plugin / theme folder behind.
2. A previous installation attempt was interrupted and left an empty destination folder.
In either case, there is a folder with the same name as the theme or plugin you are trying to install. This folder is stopping WordPress from completing the installation.
Please, feel free to contact us in case, you will face some troubles again.
Kind regards,
Mihail
