Failing Largest Contentful Paint in mobile with Google
I am looking for some guidance from Brizy as how I might increase the load speed for pages when viewed via mobiles. At present most of my pages in mobile view are failing Google's LCP metric. Desktop pages are all fine.
My site is already on its own VPS server, I use WP rocket, images are all lazy loaded and optimized in size for web delivery. On a couple of the pages I have looked at the LCP element is text, so should definitely not be taking too long to load.
When I look at Page Speed Insights the 2 largest opportunities are:
- Reduced unused JavaScript (1.05s)
- Reduce unused CSS (.75s)
I know people have talked previously about Brizy having some issues with mobile scores and I feel I have done what I can to try and make sure the speed is fast. Could you please recommend some things to try so that I am not failing the LCP.
Thanks

Hi,
don't worry about the request any longer. On checking some pages this morning my LCP score has improved for both mobile and desktop, not 100% sure why but I cleaned up a couple of things and that might have done the trick.

Hello again,
it seems I was premature in thinking this problem was solved. It appeared to be fixed for a short period and is again showing a problem.
If you have a look at this page https://www.seektraveride.com/about-seektravelride/ you will see that LCP for mobile fails. Google Search console has failed all my mobile pages for LCP. The page above has no reason to be slow, it has no large images or other elements.
I am looking for some advice as to the sorts of things I should look at to get this score back in the green.
Many thanks

Hello Stephen!
Your page is not available.
Are you sure it is no server issues with your website?

Hi,
the server is fine. It is hosted on VPS and I have no problems accessing it. I have run multiple tests on page speed insights and it always works but fails LCP on mobile. I have just now run it again on page speed insights and it was accessible.
Here is the link again https://www.seektravelride.com/about-seektravelride/
Thanks

The overall score on this page is good but it is still failing LCP, that is the metric I am trying to resolve. Currently in Google Search Console ALL my mobile pages are failing LCP. After reading lots of articles online there is no reason it should be failing, especially when the LCP element on many pages is text. This is why I am asking for some assistance from Brizy as I believe I have done all I can. Many articles point to page builders as slowing sites down but I should be able to pass LCP with my current set up.
Give LCP is one of the metrics that Google measures I wish to make sure I am not failing it, especially on pages with only text as the LC element
Thanks

Hello Stephen!
Thank you for reporting that to us and providing us with a lot of information. We will use your pages for investigation and test.
We are currently working on an update that should increase Brizy speed. And we are trying to increase its performance as much as possible with each update.
Kind regards,
Mihail

From what you are saying then, can I assume that there is nothing I can do to improve the LCP score? The problem is with Brizy itself? When will the update be available?

Hello Stephen!
No-no, You still can find a way to improve it from your side as well. But We need some time to investigate and to find some ways to improve it too.
We will announce to you when the needed update will be ready.
Kind regards,
Mihail

So what should I be looking at from my side to improve LCP?
- My site is hosted on its own VPS.
- The site is run through CDN
- Images are optimised in size so that they are not too large
- Images are lazy-loaded
- The site is cached
- Also implemented other optimisations such as minifed CSS and Javascript
As you can see from the link I gave you previously there is no reason for that page to fail LCP as there is not much on it and the LCP element is text.
What else should I be looking at from my end?

Hello!
Thank you for your patience!
Please make sure that you are using the latest Brizy plugin versions, which are 2.3.19 for Brizy free and 2.3.15 for Brizy Pro.
Clear the website cache and check your page again.
Let us know the results.
Kind regards

Hi Mihail,
I have done as you requested but the page is still failing the LCP. The overall score is still good at 80 but LCP is about 3.2 for mobile. Desktop is scoring 98 and 0.9 for LCP, so the issue is with mobile.
What do you suggest I should do?

Hello Stephen.
This is not a few clicks issue for our builder to improve it, We are working on this in general.
And we are trying to increase its performance as much as possible with each update.
So do not hesitate to update your plugin with each new update.
Kind regards,
Mihail

So there is nothing I can do but wait until Brizy fixes this problem?

Hello again,
all my mobile pages are now FAILING LCP in google console. Before they were just needing improvement. A page I tested this morning had a LCP speed of 5.6s! The only change I have made in the last couple of weeks is the update to Brizy.
The only option I am left with is to move away from Brizy completely. I have already tested the site with Brizy deactivated and LCP passes with flying colours on both desktop and mobile.
