Post Ordering Dynamic Content
Hi,
I have used Brizy and ACF to display events. See below:
https://www.thefarmernetwork.co.uk/news-and-events/events/
This is working other than the date order isn't showing as it should. In fact it still seems in order of when the posts were created rather than in order of the custom field date. Do you have any thoughts on what is happening please?
I am having the same issue on a second site so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Eilidh

Hi Eilidh,
Thanks for the additional details. I understand that restoring a backup isn’t practical given the work you’ve already done on the Archive.
If you’ve already added the missing years to the database as part of the admin task, I’ll have another look at the current setup and see if we can update the script to address the issue.
Best,

Hi Ariel,
Can I please ask where you are with this? Our client is really unhappy.
The events are still not in the correct order on the main pages and then in the Archive - https://www.fonfestival.org/archive/event-archive/ it is now only showing an event that is in the future, despite filtering on the category 'Archive'.
I'm also not sure if you have been playing with code snippets? It is now putting all past events intro draft which wasn't happening last week.
This is a major and embarrassing issue.
Thanks,
Eilidh

Hi Eilidh,
Thanks for following up. I’m still working on the website, this is a more complex issue than initially expected.
I understand the urgency and will continue working on it carefully. I’ll keep you updated on my progress.
Best regards,

Hi Eilidh,
I’ve updated the code snippet, and it now appears to be sorting the Event Archive correctly.
However, there are four events where the date in the database appears to be incorrect. These will need to be manually updated:
Breadboard Orchestra Workshop
Current: 19 Feb 2026 -> Correct: 19 Feb 2016
https://www.fonfestival.org/new-event/breadboard-orchestra-workshop-vespertine-york-190216/Cumbria Soundcamp, Eskdale
Current: 6 May 2025 -> Correct: 6 May 2023
https://www.fonfestival.org/new-event/cumbria-soundcamp-eskdaleSoundcamp, Ravenglass Estuary
Current: 30 Apr 2025 -> Correct: 30 Apr 2022
https://www.fonfestival.org/new-event/soundcamp-ravenglass-estuaryHelena Mackie / Drake Gritton / FON Liverpool Philharmonic Listening Club
Current: 17 Apr 2025 -> Correct: 17 Apr 2026
https://www.fonfestival.org/new-event/helena-mackie-drake-gritton-fon-liverpool-philharmonic-listening-club/Once these dates are corrected, the archive should be able to sort these events into their correct positions as well.

Hi Ariel,
Thanks for this, I've amended those dates and the Archive is working great, so thank you.
The homepage and the other pages are still in the incorrect order though?
Thanks,
Eilidh

Hi Eilidh,
I’ve updated the code snippet to apply site-wide.
For each Brizy Posts element, please make sure to set the Filter to Event date.

This will display the newest events first.

Hi Ariel,
Excellent! This is all working now. Thank you very much.
Thanks again,

Hi Ariel,
Apologies but it's all off again. As you can see it's showing old events again - https://www.fonfestival.org/
There is code on the site to move old events into an Archive category. Whenever you reimplement your code it seems to remove them from this category so they start displaying again? So the events that we triple checked yesterday were firmly in the Archive category are now no longer in it. See screenshot -

So effectively your fix is breaking the site we think. They are losing business because of this.
Thanks again,
Eilidh

Hi Ariel,
I'm wondering if there has been a code conflict? We were using Snippets but you''ve been using Code Snippets.
We've disabled the code we had in Snippets and moved to Code Snippets, disabled it there too and called it: Event archive — sort ACF event_date newest first. OLD MOVED FROM SNIPPETS PLUGIN.

Ok, since turning off our version of the code. Clearing cache the events look to be back in the correct order.

Hi Eilidh,
Thanks for the update. I’m glad to hear that the events are now displaying in the correct order after disabling the previous code and clearing the cache.
