Why the blocks default to global?

Hi, I created the about page, but anything I put on that page also automatically appeared on my home page. So I open the home page in the editor, and delete those new blocks. Went back to the about page, the blocks disappeared too, it became blank. I did this 3 times, wasted lots of time. I couldn't find a setting to change this block behavior. Please advise, thanks!

  Hello Jasmine,

  The content you added to the "About" page automatically displays on your home page because you added it to the global header. To resolve the issue, create a new block/section just below the header on the About page. Any content added to this section/block will not appear on the homepage.
