Post Control filtering and sorting timeout problem

I have a problem with the posts control with sorting. If i select a category and leave the sorting as is (ascending or arrow up) everything ist fine and i see the selected posts in the preview. When i change the sorting to descending (or arrow down) it takes a long time till an error message "Maximum execution time of 120 seconds exceeded in....wordpress\wp-content\plugins\brizy\twig-engine.php on line 31" appears in the preview of the post.

At the WP Dashboard i see an Brizy error entry "cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 5009 milliseconds with 383913 bytes received", but i don´t know if this error appears in correlation with the other error.

This beaviour exists, no matter which category and which filter (id, date, ...) i select. The number of posts in this category is under 30.

Brizy 2.2.3 / Brizy Pro 2.2.0 / Wordpress 5.6 / PHP 7.4.13 / MariaDB 10.4.17

Hi Stephan,

Thank you for all these details. Could you please check if you receive the same problem if you temporary deactivate all external plugins (except Brizy Free and Pro) and activate a WP default theme (e.g. Twenty Nineteen)?
If you still receive the same problem, could you please install, activate and run a clean cache plugin, image optimization (we recommend ShortPixel) and a database optimization plugin (WP Optimizer)?
