I cannot select a specific menu I created...

When I add the menu element, it defaults to the first added menu and there's no way to choose between the header or footer menu which I created. When I click on the option indicated in the instructions it brings up a toggle for "mega menu" which I don't even know how it works... Please help.

  Hi,

  If you want to change the menu that is displaying in the Menu element, you have to access the general menu option and from there find the "Menu" sub-option. From there, you will be able to change the menu. See this video.
