Tutorial for adding a post and customizing with Brizy
I'm new to Wordpress and am wondering how I can add a new blog post that shows up with my current Brizy website theme. I've watched a few tutorials, but haven't found an exact answer.
Issues I've run into:
- I can add a post through the Astra builder, but prefer to use Brizy and am not sure how. Between a blog listing page with titles and thumbnails and the individual post, which comes first and how do they link to each other in the back-end?
- I've set-up a template using Brizy, but am not sure how to have this apply to my posts. It doesn't show up as a template option when I go into the editor.
- Some posts may vary in layout if there's the ability to have multiple templates dedicated to the same category of posts.
- Images are cropped and zoomed in, without the ability to resize and adjust.
- The Wordpress post element within the Brizy lets me set a template for post tiles. A customization I would like to do is have some of the tiles link to external sites while some open a new page within my Wordpress/Brizy site.
Thank you for your help.

Hi Christina,
If you want to edit the posts with Brizy and create for them a template, in this case, all posts are recommended to be created in WP default editor and not with the theme or another page builder.
- "Between a blog listing page with titles and thumbnails and the individual post, which comes first and how do they link to each other in the back-end?". Response: in the template for single posts, you can add the Posts Navigation element. For the Blog page in the Posts elements, for each post, you have the button where you can set it with Post URL. In this case, when you will click on this button, you will be linked to the full post.
- "I've set-up a template using Brizy, but am not sure how to have this apply to my posts. " To attach a template to all posts, after the creating the template from WP dashboard -> Brizy -> Templates, you have to add a display condition Include - Posts - All (from single option) https://jmp.sh/iPZl7Yp;
- "Some posts may vary in layout if there's the ability to have multiple templates dedicated to the same category of posts." - if you want to have a different template for a specific post, you have to add a new display condition in the main template for single posts and add "Exclude - Posts - [name of the post you want to have a different template]". After this create a new template for that posts and add the display condition "Include - Posts - [name of the post]". At the moment we have a little problem with the "Exclude" option but we will fix it in the next update.
- "Images are cropped and zoomed in, without the ability to resize and adjust." - yes, in the template you create the template of how will display the images and for all posts, the images will have the same sizes.
- "A customization I would like to do is have some of the tiles link to external sites while some open a new page within my Wordpress/Brizy site. " - if you create a template and add an external link to the Post title, in this case, all posts that have attached to this template will have the same link.
Let me know if I can help you with something else.
