How to paste text without losing existing formatting?
Hello,
If I have a text block that I have specifically formatted the text font size and other characteristics, and then I either paste additional text into it, or even cut and paste within the same text block, the pasted text loses all the formatting and I have to reformat every paste over and over. This is very time-wasting and frustrating.
How can I paste text without losing the existing formatting?
Thank you.
Best regards,
Tony

How it works right now the pasted text should match the Brizy formatting from that text paragraph.
What I do when I copy paste text into Brizy Text element, I remove the formatting first so when I paste the content it takes the formatting from the brizy element.
What happens some times the pasted text loses the color but the styling is matching the Brizy text style.
Can you send me a screen recording with what yo are doing to see exactly what you mean ?
Thanks.

I sent it. I didn't show that ti also changes the font if I cut and paste within the same block.

I'm finding that Brizy is creating a paragraph for each line rather than a paragraph for the original multi line paragraph. I'm just pasting into a new text block with my text. This obviously causes issues with the formatting as screen changes width.
Looks like you have to run text through a plain text editor first. Perhaps there needs to be an option to paste as plain text in Brizy.

Hey Mark,
If you hit an enter, that is considered a new paragraph. The reason we did that is we wanted to let you have full control over your tet element and create multiple paragraphs without the need of multiple text elements. All the fonts, colors, gaps between them are individual. I personally think it pretty solid.
Not perfect for copy pasting text that comes with paragraphs, styles, colors, etc. We'll have to look into how we can improve that.
Thanks a lot for your contribution to this post.

Hi Dimi,
Just realised this post is under plugin but the issue was on Brizy Cloud.
I understand that if I hit an enter I should get a new paragraph which is fine. However if I copy and paste a single paragraph which happens to run over several lines; when it passes into Brizy I’m getting a paragraph for each line and not a long paragraph that I had in the original. I got round that by running it through a plain text editor first.
‘To be fair, in my first outing with Brizy, it was my only concern.Mark

There will always be things to improve :). Not sure is technically doable, I'll talk to the guys about it, but maybe have the best of both worlds, have two ways to paste the text in, have regular copy paste that paste in only content, stripped down of everything and a special paste if you press the ALT or something that will paste the styling as well.
We'll see, thanks again.

Dimi, did you watch my video? Still looking for a solution to the cut and paste issue - either from a text editor, or within the same text block.

Hey Tony,
Sorry not sure what video are you referring of, I can't see any link here for a video. I'm communicating with hundreds of ppl daily so please excuse me if i don't recall something that might be obvious.
So, right now there is no solution, you copy paste, if the format is changing you change it back.
What I'd recommend is create a global styling class from here:

And then, after you copy paste the text, select the global styling from here:

Hope this helps.

Ah, I had replied via email. Attached here now - oh, spoke too soon, I don't see anywhere to attach it!
I'll try your workaround.
Best, Tony

Yes, I faced the same issue right now when I am migrating from another builder to brizy.. All the formating is gone.. Even paragraph and links.. so every thing is lump together as text.. It might be helpful in some situation but not in mine. I have to find the places to add back the links and paragraphs.. Hope there would be some option or "paste special" where we are retain things like that..

Hi Daniel,
Did you try to use Command + C and Command + V (or CTRL + C and CTRL + V). Just now, I used these shortcuts keys and all worked fine. See here.

Hi Sandra,
I think you have misunderstood me. I can copy and paste. But my copy and paste loses formatting like paragraphs and links etc.. everything is paste in a chunk of text.

Hi Daniel,
Maybe I misunderstand you, therefore could you please send us a video of how did you reproduce this problem?
Thank you!

Hi,
Thank you for the video. Yes, at the moment, we are working to improve this aspect when the text is pasted from an external source (internal document, external site, etc.). Now it is working in the way you showed in the video. At the moment, the content copied from the same page is pasted correctly and you can manage with him. I'm sorry for this inconvenience! For the moment, I can suggest copying each paragraph separately and paste it on the text element from Brizy editor.
Thank you!

Hi,
3 years later and this still seems to be an issue. At least for one of our clients.
Any improvements on this front? If not it will be the first time we are losing a client due to some of many Brizy issues we are facing with this particular client.

Hi Sandra,
It is possible to paste formatted text in Brizy as you can see in this GIF. Can you give us more details of the issue your client is facing?
