Can't delete a page

I created a page and saved.  I created a second page and saved.  I want to delete the first page.  I use the delete in the project settings.  It asks me to confirm, I do, nothing changes. 

HOW DO I DELETE A Page?

  Hi Jack,

  Please make sure you set your second page as the homepage. You can do that in MENU section: https://jmp.sh/YQ6CCVs 

  Once you have a different homepage, you can delete the first page you created.

  Thanks, Alex. 

  I actually did go into the settings and change the page assignments  -- or thought I changed them.  Guess I did not.
