Custom post types
Hi, I'd like to ask if it's possible to use custom post types for dynamic blocks on Brizy.
We're currently using Brizy as a plugin on Wordpress and our use case is that we want to insert dynamic content on a page and a not template. We'd also like to fetch dynamic data that the basic post doesn't provide. For a post, the dynamic data would be author, post date, comments, categories, etc. In this case, a user testimonial, we'd like to instead fetch dynamic fields such as client name, title, quote, and company logo:

Also, We'd also like to avoid using Wordpress posts for these testimonial posts since we do not want them to appear on our site's blog archive.
I do hope you can help. Thanks!

Hi,
Yes, you can create a custom post type and insert it in the Brizy pages. For this, I would recommend creating also a custom taxonomy and add it to all custom posts. After this on the Brizy page, you can add the Posts element and from the filter select the custom taxonomy to display the custom posts.
Let us know if we can help you with something else.

I created a custom post type for our testimonials then setup a taxonomy called company to the post type. When adding in a post and checking the options, these are the only filter options available https://d.pr/i/cnDnhm. How do I filter by taxonomy? And do all the testimonials need to have the same values for the taxonomy I setup?

Hi Edwin,
I can suggest selecting the "company" custom taxonomy from the "category" field. There, you will find the custom taxonomies. See here.

I was able to filter by such but it's not pulling in the correct post content: https://d.pr/i/XuCqdZ (I blurred the correct post title). It looks like it's pulling in some shortcode even though the content doesn't have it showing at all under the code block.
Can I also add in advanced custom fields attached to this post type? We basically have a custom post type for testimonials with the company taxonomy and three custom fields (testimonial name, title and special URL). Would love to use all of them for this purpose.

Hi,
How did you create the content of the testimonials? Could you please send us a screenshot of how did you create a testimonial in the Custom Post Type?
Yes, you can integrate the ACF with the Custom Post Type. We have integration with ACF and therefore, the ACF will be visible in the Brizy template.

Sandra,
I figured it out, I didn't realize I could use the # to pull in the content. I'm able to grab everything except for the post content which is missing. Do you know why that might be? https://d.pr/i/Jh6fwz

Hi,
Could you give us more details about how did you create the testimonials? How did you create the content? What field did you use? Could you please send us a screenshot of how did you create a testimonial in the Custom Post Type (e.g. https://jmp.sh/H6vczC4)?
Thanks!

We used custom post type UI to make a custom post type, then just filled in the post content like so https://d.pr/i/q2Zhvx
I can access the testimonial options at the bottom but I can't access the actual post content.

Hi,
In the simple pages when is added the Posts element or Carousel element with Dynamic Content, it isn't possible to display the Content of the post. For this reason, in the first instance, you see the wrong text and in the second one, you noticed that the Post Content isn't available.
To solve this inconvenience, I can suggest creating a new Custom Field (e.g. description) and add it to the Custom Post Type "Testimonial". After this add the content of the testimonial not in the post but in the custom field you recently created. The next step is to go to the page where you want to display the Testimonials and instead of Post Content to add the description custom field.
Best regards,
Sandra0
