Blog posts excerpt shows all article

I have tried everything to make a short excerpt for blog posts, but it doesn't work.
I use blocksy as theme
below you see the problem

  Hi,

  If you want to display less text in the post excerpt, I can recommend set-up manually the excerpt you want to display. For this, you have to go to the Post and find in the right sidebar the Excerpt option and from here add the excerpt you need. See here.

  Thanks for the tip. But when will the posts excerpt work. As a blogger you cannot enter everything manually?

  Hi,

  After you will add manually the excerpt and will save the updates you made on the post, the new post excerpt will be added instead of the old one generated automatically.
