Unable to connect to Netlify via github

I have already set up one site connected to Github and Netlify, which works fine (undoapp.io)

When I try to do the for another site, the Github connection is OK, but the Netlify connection stays "pending" although I have deployed the site on Netlify

The Github repo at this point only contains a readme file. Updating the site contents doesn't trigger a repo update.
