I'm unable to edit error message in the login box

Hi, I've set up some password protected pages but cannot edit the "Invalid" error message if someone puts in the wrong password. I really don't like the default one which says "Please insert a valid code!". It looks like the other messages don't save either.

I've gone into the site settings area and tried to edit the password template and it saves my changes but they do not appear on the front end.
