Menu not showing correctly

As I am trying to balance the view between desktop, tablet, and mobile, I have run into an issue where my primary desktop menu now has code in lieu of the normal character text.

Also, why do images sometimes appear as upper left hand icons or question marks at times, rather than the full image? Thank you.
