Custom sub domain (CNAME Redirect)
Hi,
I currently have a website with another hosting provider at mydomain.com. I also have a subdomain of this domain “subdomain.mydomain.com”. I have a CNAME pointing to Brizy Cloud where this subdomain is hosted.
As there is no provision for email with Brizy cloud I have created an email account with my hosting provider “email@subdomain.mydomain.com”.
Unfortunately i discovered I was unable to deliver any emails sent from “email@subdomain.mydomain.com”.with my host saying that CNAME record for “subdomain.mydomain.com” pointing to Brizy servers conflicts when creating the SPF record as they can't both exist together. This means my email deliveries would be compromised without the SPF record.
My host suggests the conflict could be avoided using an A record instead of a CNAME. Looking at your support articles it seems to suggest the following:
Custom domain (A Record Redirect) Follow these steps to link your custom domain with your Brizy Cloud project.
Custom sub domain (CNAME Redirect) Use this method when you want to link a sub domain with your Brizy project. For example, if you want to create a landing page on your custom domain (landing.mydomain.com) but keep your current website and main domain (mydomain.com) where it is.
My scenario seems to relate to the CNAME option only, or could I use the A record?
Kind regards
-
Hi Wayne,
Unfortunately, one can't point a custom sub domain using A Record with Brizy Cloud.
If authenticating the domain using an SPF record is not feasible, kindly consider exploring other authentication methods like DKIM and DMARC
