Security of backups

I created a website a few months back after taking over from a previous developer but he had a flimsy WordPress password and the website was hacked and some malware ended up in the site.

I had saved my layouts on Brizy. 

I am unsure as to the safety of said backups. Is there a way to check if they had been infected when I saved the layouts? Or are saved layouts safe from Malware.

You could consider creating a staging site by performing a fresh installation of WordPress with Brizy and Brizy Pro. Additionally, install a reputable malware scanner plugin. After setting up the staging site, you can import your saved layouts and run a malware scan. This process should help determine if the layouts are also infected.

  I did just that. Installed a fresh Wordpress, Brizy & Pro.
  
  I imported the layout and so far no Malware detected.
