Custom/URL Video
I have two custom video files on the home page of the website I'm building. One is added to the background and will autoplay, but doesn't play audio. The other is added into a column and won't play at all. I attempted to watch it via Spotlightr with a URL and embed- neither of those options worked. When I add a video to Google Drive and embed an iframe, it will play with sound but not autoplay. All plugins are updated, I flushed the browser cache and tried viewing the site on a different browser- no change.

Hi Jessica,
Thank you for reaching out to us.
Videos hosted locally will have the sound automatically muted. This behavior is typically enforced by web browsers to ensure a better user experience.
This is best explained in this article:
https://sproutvideo.com/help/articles/161-why_are_some_autoplaying_videos_mutedRegarding the video you added to the column, please clarify whether it was set as a background or if you used the video element. If you have used the video element, there might be additional factors affecting its functionality. One possibility is that the video file size is too large, which can hinder proper loading. In such cases, compressing the video to an acceptable file size could help resolve the issue.
If you have any further questions, please let us know.

Hi, Thanks for getting back to me so quickly! Both videos are compressed down to around 3MB. The video element isn't playing videos at all. Videos will only play if they're added to the background. I disabled the mute setting and selected "allow" for autoplay in my browser settings, but it still won't produce sound.

Hi Jessica,
Thank you for the update.
Could you please send us the link to the video, so we can reproduce the issue at our end?
I am looking forward to your response.
Best regards,
