URGENT - INDONESIA BIG LOCAL INTERNET PROVIDER BLOCK BRIZY.CLOUD SERVER
Hi,
I'm currently facing a significant issue with the Indonesian local phone provider, Telkomsel, which has blocked access to the Brizy.cloud server. Upon further investigation, I've discovered that all websites hosted on the Brizy.cloud server, both my own and my clients', have been banned.
I reached out to my colleagues and friends who use Telkomsel, and they've confirmed that they are unable to access these websites, which is deeply disappointing to me.
Fortunately, I've tested with another phone provider, Excel, and they haven't imposed any restrictions on Brizy.cloud. However, it's unclear whether this situation will persist.
Telkomsel boasts a subscriber base of 175 million phones, which is a massive number. I have a Brizy.cloud studio plan, and its value is significantly diminished if Telkomsel continues to ban it. Additionally, another internet provider in our region (First Media), despite being quite large, has also banned the use of the free website subdomain.brizy.site, a move that Telkomsel has followed.
My question is whether Brizy.cloud can request a whitelist for this issue or change its IP address for users in Indonesia. If not addressed, this situation may prevent people in our country from using Brizy.cloud in the near future, possibly due to competition from local hosting providers lobbying Telkomsel for the ban.
Please help...

Please note that I am using the Brizycloud Studio Plan for me and clients.

Hi Kurnia,
As I had mentioned to here, https://support.brizy.io/hc/en-us/community/posts/12990529036178 , can you get in touch with Telkomsel support to learn why the server is blocked? Possible causes include offensive content, vulnerable scripts, phishing sites hosted on Brizy Cloud, etc. We can take corrective action after we identify the source of the block. As a Telkomsel customer, you are likely to get a better response compared to us contacting them as an outsider.
Please also check to see if they have blocked the Bunny CDN hostname (https://b-cloud.b-cdn.net), the server IP address, or the subdomain brizy.site. The IP and sub domain cannot be changed because thousands of other domains point to them, however changing the CDN hostname is possible.

Hello KC George,
It has come to my attention that the issue extends beyond just Telkomsel (https://www.telkomsel.com/) blocking access to brizy.cloud. Several other government providers, such as Satelindo - Mentari Card (https://id.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satelindo) and their affiliates like Orbit - by Telkomsel (https://www.myorbit.id/en), Indyhome (home cable/internet), and Bizznet (https://biznethome.net/), have also implemented this block. Given their substantial subscriber bases, this presents a significant challenge.
I personally use a Telkomsel card for my phone, and I'm unable to access my white-label and client websites hosted on Brizy.cloud. At home, I rely on First Media, where I can access my white-label website but face restrictions when accessing the free brizy.site. Meanwhile, my kids use XL Axiata (https://www.xl.co.id/), and they still have access to the white-label sites.
Telkomsel is a massive government-owned company, regulated by Kominfo (the government body). My concerns are unlikely to gain much traction due to bureaucracy and the fact that this issue isn't their primary focus.
I suspect there are two potential reasons for this situation. It's possible that numerous scammers using the free Brizy.cloud plan prompted reports to Kominfo. Alternatively, competition from local hosting providers could be a factor, with reports made to Kominfo regarding unfair competition or other unregistered activities. However, I lean more toward the first reason.
As a result of this incident, I've had to pause my paid digital ads since all my landing pages are hosted on Brizy.cloud. You're aware that a significant portion (80-90%) of my leads come from mobile ads, with the majority using Telkomsel's internet services. The same applies to all my clients. If this situation persists, I stand to lose everything, including my studio plan and all the clients who have subscribed to Brizy.cloud.
I'm reaching out to request assistance from Brizy in resolving this matter without involving large companies like Telkomsel or regulatory bodies. The ban has affected not only my access but also all my whitelisted domains (they have essentially blocked Brizy.cloud's server IP). It's disheartening to see small businesses, my clients included, facing such consequences.
In case you need to explore alternative solutions, like changing the CDN hostname, please feel free to send me a direct message at my account's email. I've recently had to refund two new clients due to this situation, highlighting the urgency of finding a prompt resolution. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
Thanks and regards,

Hi Kurnia
You said "Telkomsel is a massive government-owned company, regulated by Kominfo (the government body). My concerns are unlikely to gain much traction due to bureaucracy and the fact that this issue isn't their primary focus" It is considerably more difficult for us to get a job done by a government or semi-government corporation.
You are right when you say "It's possible that numerous scammers using the free Brizy.cloud plan prompted reports to Kominfo" because we have had a number of individuals from Indonesia set up phishing websites on Brizy Cloud using free accounts. We block these websites when we learn about them through reporting.
Given the difficulty in identifying the censorship's root cause and absence of formalised systems to reevaluate censorship in light of corrective measures taken, I think it will be exceedingly difficult, if not impossible, to find a solution to this problem through dialog. I guess we do not have control over everything that happens in the world.
Nevertheless, we are open to changes we can make on our end (within the boundary of technical feasibility) to assist in resolving this issue without having to interact with government agencies. You had mentioned "It appears that they have blocked both the Bunny CDN hostname (https://b-cloud.b-cdn.net) and the free Brizy.site domain. Notably, the Bunny CDN restriction came into effect after the brizy.site ban" If you have more information about this, we can explore the possibility of coming out with a solution.

Dear KC George,
I want to express my gratitude for your understanding regarding this matter, and I am fully on board with exploring alternative solutions. I suggest that these solutions be exclusively available to paid users with whitelisted domains, excluding those on the free 'brizy.site' domain.
Personally, I have three whitelisted domains (configured with A records and CNAMEs) under my studio plan. They are:
1. https://cloud.digitalpointer.id
2. https://cloud.dutanada.com
3. https://cloud.yoganeka.com
4. https://clickasuransi.comI utilize these subdomains for creating landing pages for Facebook and Google ads. I opted for Brizy.cloud due to the expectation of fewer issues compared to WordPress, which often encounters problems with new core versions and plugins.
As for my clients, I cannot disclose their names on this forum, but it's essential for me to act swiftly on their behalf. They are paying clients, and I bear the responsibility of ensuring their websites run smoothly. Currently, I have two clients with outstanding payments who are waiting for resolution from Brizycloud within the next 2-3 days.
Considering that the solution likely involves pointing to a new server address, I kindly request that you communicate directly with my registered email (kxkwik@...). This will enable me to test the solution on my own websites before implementing it for my clients.
I am eager for a positive resolution and truly appreciate the assistance provided by both you and the Brizycloud team. We are committed to doing the right thing and avoiding falling victim to scammers. As you may know, we are supporting small and medium businesses here in Indonesia, offering them very affordable pricing. The government has also been promoting the Go Global initiative for SMEs, as detailed here: https://ekon.go.id/publikasi/detail/3184/umkm-go-digital-umkm-go-global.
Once again, I look forward to a swift resolution and express my sincere gratitude for your support.
Sincerely,
Kurnia K

Hi Kurnia,
We do not currently know whether it is feasible to add a new public IP to the Brizy Cloud webserver. One of our developers has been asked to conduct a feasibility assessment. We'll make a choice based on the results of this analysis.
I cannot guarantee that I will have a solution in the next two to three days due to the unknown variables involved. We will keep you informed of the progress if we have a positive outcome from the analysis.

Hi KC George,
Thank you for the update, and I understand that this situation presents a significant challenge. I sincerely hope that the Brizycloud team can successfully find a solution.
The potential impact of not resolving this issue could indeed be substantial. It might lead to the unfortunate scenario where Indonesian users on the paid plan, including myself and my clients, may no longer be able to use Brizycloud. This would not only affect our studio plan but also have repercussions for Brizycloud's presence in a growing market here.
It's disheartening that this situation has arisen due to the actions of scammers. We appreciate your team's efforts in addressing this matter and eagerly await updates on the feasibility analysis. Please keep us informed of any progress, and we remain hopeful for a positive outcome.
Regards,
Kurnia K

Hi Kurnia,
Unfortunately, it is not currently possible to add more IP addresses to the Brizy Cloud preview server. In the upcoming AWS Preview Server Version 3, multiple IPs can be added. In 4–6 months, this new cloud infrastructure for the preview could be available.
We regret the adverse effect this technical limitation will have on your business

Hi KC George,
I wanted to express my gratitude for your prompt response in confirming this matter. Regrettably, it appears that adding additional IP addresses to our current AWS infrastructure is not currently feasible.
I've been a dedicated supporter of Brizy since its early days. I've held licenses for Brizycloud AS Personal (2 plan), the PRO WordPress Plugin (LTD), and a Studio Plan subscription. I continue to have faith in Brizy's commitment to providing top-notch products and services to its customers.
I renewed my Studio Plan subscription on July 31, 2023, and I intend to keep it active. However, I must inform you that I'll need to issue refunds to the two new clients who recently made payments. As for the remaining clients, I plan to offer partial refunds based on a pro-rated usage basis. I'll also have to notify them that their websites have been blocked by Kominfo, and unfortunately, three major government providers (Telkomsel, Satelindo, and Biznet) have restricted access to their websites. It's a regrettable situation, and I am powerless to change it. I'm considering how I can assist them in migrating their websites to the WordPress environment while maintaining consistent URLs to preserve their SEO rankings. Does Brizy have a solution for a seamless transfer in such cases? Please let me know.
I'm willing to wait for 4-6 months, hoping to receive positive news about AWS Preview Server version 3. My decision is based on several factors:
1. My unwavering belief in the Brizy team.
2. My commitment to supporting SMEs with cost-effective, world-class solutions.
3. My desire to avoid falling victim to scammers.Regarding my Brizycloud subscription, I leave it to your discretion whether to extend it until a solution is found or not. I am open to either decision.
If there is any possibility of expediting the release of AWS Preview Server version 3 (for example, within 2-3 months), it would be highly beneficial. Indonesia is a growing country with a population of approximately 270 million, and SMEs play a significant role in supporting the economy. I firmly believe that Brizy can be a valuable contributor in this regard.
Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I eagerly anticipate a resolution.

Hi KC George,
Hello KC George,
Just an additional comment from me...
I'd like to emphasize that all Brizycloud users worldwide who intend to sell their products or services in Indonesia or expand their cloud hosting will encounter the same issue as me. Their websites will not be accessible to a significant portion of the Indonesian population and businesses. Given this situation, it is crucial to explore alternative methods or expedite the acquisition of additional IP addresses. Otherwise, many businesses may suffer adverse effects due to this situation.
I understand that this is an extremely challenging situation, but I firmly believe that we must actively seek alternative solutions.
Best regards,
Kurnia K

Hi Kurnia,
To migrate a website from Brizy Cloud to Brizy WordPress, you can consider these steps
- Save each page as a layout by selecting 'Save Layout' option in the bottom right corner of the In Brizy Cloud Editor
- Create pages and import the saved layouts one by one to the WordPress project
- Copy paste global colors and typography from Cloud to Brizy WordPress
- Setup Menu in WordPress
- Setup global blocks in Brizy WordPress
- Setup email notifications in the WordPress project
Unfortunately we have no control over the release of AWS Preview Server Version 3, which is external activity. I am afraid we can do nothing to speed up the process.
You're right; we need to actively look for alternative solutions to the problems we're having in Indonesia. If you have any recommendations in this respect, kindly let us know.

Hello KC George,
I want to say thanks for your advice on moving things to WordPress. It seems like we can only do it one page at a time. Luckily, our client doesn't have a blog on their website, so it's not too complicated for them. But for my own site, which has a blog, it's going to be a bit trickier to switch to WordPress.
I will leave the Brizycloud team to figure the solution. I know there are some problems with the servers and other challenges, but the longer it takes, the more we both lose. From my side, I can't charge my clients because I've decided to give them free access for the next 4-6 months until we find a solution. On Brizycloud's side, some of your customers who want to reach international clients in Indonesia are having their websites blocked by the government's internet providers. This is causing problems and making people hesitant to use Brizycloud, which is not good for your company's brand name.
I really hope we can solve this problem quickly. Please let me know if there's any good news about finding a solution or if the AWS Preview Server Version 3 is up and running.
Regards,

Hi @KC George,
Can you update me on your previous post about adding more IP addresses to the Brizy Cloud so that my Studio Plan can work again?

Hi Kurnia,
We are currently contemplating the idea of multiple zones for the Brizy Cloud websites in different parts of the world. This will not only bring new IPs, but will add different infrastructure for different zones. However this is still in planning stage.

@KC George,
That is good news. However, can you give me the estimated time when it would be implemented? As you know, I am currently paying a subscription to Brizy.cloud but I cannot use it, and I also have to tell my clients to wait. And it would be very difficult for me to fill these two outstanding positions without a target date.
Thank you,

Hi Kurnia,
Thank you for the update.
We understand your concerns and the need for an estimated timeline, especially when it involves your clients. However, at this moment, we don't have a specific timeline to provide.
I know this is not the ideal situation, especially since you're currently on a subscription to Brizy.cloud. We appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter. Rest assured that we will keep you updated on this support thread as soon as we have new information.
Best regards,

It has already been two months since the last response from @Ariel H. Do you have any updates regarding how you resolved the issue with the IP ban in Indonesia? Having an alternative IP number that we could choose was a proposed solution in previous discussions. Please let me know about the current situation.
As you know, my cloud subscription will end in July 2024. I love Brizycloud and wish to renew it. However, the current situation is very confusing. Will the Brizy team allow me to freeze the payment until the team finds a solution, at which point I will resume my subscription under the same terms?
I just want the Brizy team to be fair to long-time and loyal customers.

Hi Kurnia,
Thank you for keeping in touch.
Unfortunately, we haven't made any progress on this issue yet. Given the complexity of the problem and the solution, we don't have a specific timeline at present. However, please be assured that we are actively working on it, although it may take some time to address the issue completely.
In the meantime, the best option might be to transfer your designs to WordPress and host them in Indonesia or with a web hosting provider that is not affected by this issue.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Best regards,

Hi KC George / Ariel H,
On July 3, 2024, my Cloud Studio would be expired for the annual renewal plan. Since my last report 10 months ago, I just used 2. months from 12 months that I paid since the white label domain was banned (by ID government).
If you have not got the solution yet, I plan to maintain my Studio Plan, however, I request you to freeze the payment until you corrected the situation. I believe this is a fair request and I really appreciated your consideration.
Please see - https://share.zight.com/Koukn25z for your information of my plan at Brizy.
Regards,
Kurnia K
Note: Please email me about this request.

Can we use another solution like Cloudflare or push thrgough a third party t use them servers instead of brizy ones???

Hi Hugo
Yes; if you use Server Sync or 3rd Party Free hosting option to publish on Netlify, Vercel or Render, you can overcome the domain and IP blocking.
