custom sidebar
I'm new to this....
It seems easier to build a custom sidebar from scratch, ie, empty block with text, elements and buttons and save it as a global block than to use a plugin or use code with wordpress widgets. Is that correct?
Is that doable? Much appreciated.
Thanks,
Annie

Hi Annie,
Thank you for reaching out to us.
Unfortunately, creating a global custom sidebar using Brizy isn't possible at the moment. To accomplish this, a manual approach is required, involving the creation of a two-column layout. In this setup, the right column's width should be set to around 30% of the total block width to contain the sidebar elements, while the main content would reside in the first column.
While custom code might offer a solution, such advanced modifications fall outside the scope of our support. Alternatively, third-party plugins could potentially assist in achieving this layout. You can explore the options provided at this link: https://enginetemplates.com/wordpress-sidebar-plugins/
Nevertheless, I understand the importance of this feature, so I will log this as a potential enhancement in our internal feature request queue.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Is it possible to make the sidebar global while leaving the central content area non-global?
Thanks

Hi Annie,
Thank you for keeping in touch.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to make the sidebar global while leaving the central content area non-global.
However, I have a workaround for you. You can save a two-column layout that includes a pre-designed sidebar. Each time you create a new page, you can import this layout, eliminating the need to recreate the sidebar from scratch. This is demonstrated on this screencast - https://youtu.be/S0qtDZZz1U4If you have any further questions, please let us know.

Great. Thanks.
So if I want to edit the saved block I would have to replace it in each page? Correct?
Thanks again,

Hi Annie,
Thank you for the update.
You are correct, currently, you will need to make changes to each individual page.
If you have any further questions or need assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.
