Self hosted videos / GDPR again…
I know it sucks but there's a new wave of cease and desist letters rolling out in Germany (while the google fonts is still happening) for YouTube videos due to their cookies as well as their included google font requests…
Prior consent and content blocking is mandatory anyway already.
Long story short. Please prioritize the implementation for self hosted videos so we can replace yt and vimeo links with our own servers sooner than later.
Thanks!

Hi Philipp,
Have you tried adding a video cover to a YouTube video? Please checkout this Brizy page with an embedded YouTube video. https://codesk.brizytest.online/video. This page does not make a font request to Google or Bunny.
Now you can also enable the Privacy Enhanced mode in the Brizy Video element.

Hi KC,
for me its background video elements that will trigger this. After reloading (after blocking for consent) the youtube title information is displayed inside the BG element. Thers a ticket without a solution on this matter.
Also its more about the annoying consent for me. If my consent tool breaks or WordPress fails with an update I'm liable.
Is there a reason for allowing video uploads but not for bg-elements?

Hi Philipp,
You are right; when adding a YouTube video as a background to a page, the page requests two Roboto font files from Google Fonts.
One possible solution is to upload the video to Vimeo and use it as a background. Please see my test page with a Vimeo video background https://codesk.brizytest.online/video This page does not request any Google font.

Requesting Roboto fonts from Google is specific to YouTube and Brizy does not have control over it. When adding a cover to the Brizy Video element, video file downloads get delayed until the user clicks on the video. This helps avoid loading video files on page load.

Hi,
vimeo comes with its own pack of issues with content blocking. It will still need the unblocking and consent.
Why can't there be a self-host option?

Hi Philipp,
We will request for a feature to allow videos other than YouTube and Vimeo as block background
