    Hi Chris,

The elements for creating blog posts are often located at the bottom of the elements panel under the heading SINGLE. These elements can be found at the top of the elements panel when creating a blog post template with Brizy.

If you are not seeing it, it could be because of a compatibility issue. Please check these

    1. Are you using WordPress 5.9 or above? https://jmp.sh/iqlQrFw
    2. Are you using PHP 7.4 or above https://jmp.sh/XrkFgLV
    3. We do not know how compatible is Inspiro theme with Brizy. Twenty Twenty One and these themes work well with Brizy https://www.brizy.io/theme-partners. Please try changing your theme to one of these and check again.
    4. Do you have a plugin which is incompatible with Brizy? If none of the above helps, please deactivate one plugin at a time and check if the problem persists.

For an introduction to blogging with Brizy, please have a look at these tutorials

    1. Intro to Dynamic Elements | Brizy WordPress 101 | Lesson 18
    2. Creating Dynamic Templates | Brizy WordPress 101 | Lesson 19

Thank you for this.  The old videos showed Wordpress elements that are no longer used I guess.

I watched the introductory videos you suggested.  My only question is how do these posts end up on the Blog page I created?  I think I'm missing a fundamental but simple thing.

    Hi Chris,

For the blog posts to get listed in your Blog page, you need to create a Brizy Blog Template with this Display Condition.

Once you add a Brizy Template with this Display Condition, click "Edit with Brizy" to start designing your Blog page. Please drag and drop the Archive element to create the listing of your blog posts. The process is similar to what is outlined in this video https://youtu.be/lkiSk6IE7tA

Thank you.  However, there must be an oder of operations to creating all this that the videos aren't showing.  Before I delete everything I've done and start over can you confirm that?  For example, do I create the page, then the posts before I create the templates for single posts or post listings?  currently my templates are showing up on every page except the home page and the blog page I created.  Also, I should mention that I don't have options to choose a "Template Type" like you show above.  Mine is automatically chosen for me as "single" "archive".  I'm running the latest brizy pro version and wp version as well.

    Hi Chris,

Before developing a blog page for your website, these preparatory steps are recommended

    1. Develop few pages like homepage and one or two additional pages. Please set the page header and footer as global blocks and apply the Display Condition to include All.
    2. Add few sample blog posts and add featured images to all blog posts
    3. You can now create your blog archive template and single blog post template

Due to the installation of Woocommerce, I have Product and Product Archive in the Display Conditions screen. If Woocommerce weren't installed, the Template Display Conditions would just have Single and Archive options.

I think I almost have it down but perhaps one last question.  I created a "single post" template with Brizy.  However, it appears that I can also edit each individual Post with Brizy as well, thereby overriding the template.  Is there a way to make a post, once I've edited/made changes with Brizy on that specific post, to make it revert to the single post Brizy template I created?

    Hi Chris,

You are right; when you edit a blog post with Brizy, your blog post design overrides Brizy blog post template design. Unfortunately there is no provision to revert back to the Gutenberg blog post once you have edited it with Brizy. If you click on the button  'Back to WordPress Editor' your post is likely to get corrupted beyond recovery.

Hopefully this is my last question.  I assumed that the template I created called "Blog listing" that shows three of the 4 posts I created grouped together would appear on the page I created called "Blog".  The posts do not show up there.

In my WP settings---Reading I selected that my posts would show up on that "Blog" page.  What am I still missing? I also set the display conditions as you suggested but it looks a bit different than what you showed above. (see below)

    Hi Chris,

Can you please share the URL of your website you are working on so that we can check?

    0
  • Chris Johnson

    Sure.  https://promomprobaby.org/blog

Also, maybe this will help.  Does this menu look correct?

This is what I see when I click on the "Blog List" template and edit with brizy.

Or finally, maybe it's my display conditions?  I've tried a lot of variations and none have worked.

    Hi Chris,

From the screens you have shared above, looks like you have setup everything correctly. Can you please purge WP Super Cache and check again?

If this does not help, I need access to your project to troubleshoot the problem for you. Please add me as a user to your WordPress Dashboard if you need assistance with this. My email: kc.george@brizy.io. As shown in this screenshot: https://jmp.sh/sOSGGR3, please turn on the option "Send the new user an email about their account"

Please let me know here when you send me an invitation.

For some reason it finally started working.  I have no idea what I did.  Thank you though.

    Hi Chris,

At my end, the blog listing was still not functioning. This happened due to the fact that your blog posts were not published. After I published the blog posts, they are now listed on the blog page.

Yes, thank you KC.  I unpublished them once I got it working because this is a live/production site.  I'm not sure why it started working but I suspect it had something to do with a caching issue at the host level.  Thank you again for your help.

Any advice on how to add a "subscribe" button to this "listing" page using brizy? Do I include it in the "blog listing" template or just put it on the blog page itself?  Do I need a third party plugin and if so do you recommend one that works well with brizy?

    Hi Chris,

Yes; to include a subscription form in the blog page, please add a Brizy form to the Blog Listing template. If you would like to add a subscription form to all blog posts, please add it to the single blog post template.

You could either use Brizy form or use any form builder which allows a shortcode. Example: Contact Form by WPForms

Hello KC.  I was hoping to be past my troubles with my brizy blog but strange things keep happening.

    1. I’m assuming there’s a way to edit individual Blog posts using Brizy?  The WordPress editor is horrible.  It doesn’t allow you to change fonts, color, underline, etc.  It doesn’t even show some text, in final form, that I cut and pasted into their text box. (I tried using the “Single Post template” to see if I could make font, color changes, etc there but when I click on the “content” area it takes me to a page showing an error.  It seems like a bug.  You’ll have to check it out to see what I mean.  Back to the Wordpress editing page, when I click “edit with Brizy” it takes me to a blank page where it looks like I have to add all the elements like a template of sorts.  I would do it and jump through that hoop but after doing so it doesn’t give me the “Content” element as one of my options.  It gives me everything except the actual content of the Blog.  Crazy.  What am I missing?
    2. Also, on my “Blog Listing” template I added a form at the bottom to allow people to subscribe to our blog. (This is in addition to a pop-up I created that seems to work) But the Blog subscription Form doesn’t show up on the live page even after updating the template, and updating the page and clearing the cache at site and host levels.  This is the same problem I was having earlier in this message string but seemed to miraculously solve itself.  VERY frustrating.
    3. Finally, I’m having problems with the Side bar on the blog post page.  The “Recent comments” sections shows old posts that have since been trashed and cleared (Post number 4, Post number 3, etc) Plus it is showing an “RSS error”. How do I clear those? (see picture)  Also, further down the side bar, under META, there a couple links I don’t want like WordPress and the “Comments feed” takes you to a page showing code.

I’ve given you admin access to the site again.

    Hi Chris,

Let me go over your questions one by one.

    1. You have an option to add your blog posts to Brizy directly bypassing Gutenbrg. In this approach, you first add the Post Title, Featured Image, Category and Tags in the Guterberg editor. Then you click on 'Edit With Brizy' to edit the blog post in Brizy. You will get a blank page where you will add your Brizy header and a Brizy footer. In between the header and the footer, add a blank block and add the Title, Featured Image, Post Info and other dynamic content. Below the hero block, you can add your content block and add the blog post content directly in Brizy. I can add a sample blogpost to demonstrate the concept if you like.
    2. You had edited the Blog page with Brizy and had added a blog listing design on that page. When you edit your blog page with Brizy, this page design overrides the design you have added to the Brizy Blog Listing Template. I deleted your blog page and added it again and now your Blog Listing design is available at https://promomprobaby.org/blog/ The subscription form is now visible on this page.
    3. The sidebar design comes from the sidebar widget under Appearance - Widgets in your WordPress Dashboard. I have deleted the RSS Feed from the sidebar widget to get rid of the error. I have also removed the Meta links.  https://jmp.sh/GNk01A8i

Thank you KC.  That helps.  I have one clarifying question for number 1:

    1.  When you say "add your content block and add the blog post content directly in Brizy" I don't see any "content" element.  Are you talking about the "Text" element?

    2. Not sure what you did here but I'll figure it out eventually.  Thanks though.

    3.  Thanks for these changes as well

If you did mean the content element, I'm pretty disappointed in the editor there also.  I can't seem to highlight a heading within the text and make it larger.  Also, cutting and pasting doesn't retain all the links I made in the Word document.  Am I missing something?  I'm using Safari.  Could that be an issue?

    Hi Chris,

Please watch this video for what I mean by adding blog post content directly in Brizy. https://jmp.sh/uHd4sj4R

If you are interested in this approach, I can explain to you how you can setup a template for your blog posts using Global Blocks and Display Conditions.

Thanks KC.  Your method was clear before you shared the video.  I used that method as you described but was very disappointed in the Brizy rich text editor.  You can't select a specific line and then change it's size or make it bold.  It must be broken.  Even worse is the inability to for the Brizy Text element to retain the hyperlinks from the document I was cutting and pasting from.  Try it and you will see.  (Your Lorem Ipsum text you cut and pasted in the video wouldn't reveal that.) Hopefully that is just a bug otherwise it's a deal breaker for me.  Feel free to edit the text I cut and pasted here in this post. https://promomprobaby.org/wp-admin/post.php?action=in-front-editor&post=7864

Also, did you notice that the editor popup isn't viewable when you're working on a long document.  When I'm working on a portion of the text halfway down the document, select it, the editor disappears and you can't see it unless you scroll to the bottom of the page by which time you scroll there the text you selected is no longer selected.

    Hi Chris,

You are right, you can't have multiple font sizes within the same paragraph. However you can make a selected text bold or underlined in the Brizy Text element.

Yes; hyperlinks needs to be added again after pasting the text into the Text element. I have edited the blog post https://promomprobaby.org/will-we-finally-respond-to-abortion-as-god-intended-1-of-4/

Every paragraph having its own text element is the recommended practice for copy pasting text. More than one paragraph should not be pasted in a single Text element. I have edited the blog post to comply to this best practice. If you follow this best practice, the Text toolbar will be visible just below your current paragraph.

Ok,  thank you KC.  I'll do that moving forward.

One last thing before I start sharing this blog on social media, I somehow messed up the Blog page or template.  I guess I don't really understand how the templates and the custom blog entries may get overriden.  All I did was go to the "blog listing" template and delete a text box called "coming soon" and somehow that wiped out the template from appearing on my blog page.  Now the blog page is blank where I expected my updated "Blog listing" to appear.  Can you explain?

    Hi Chris,

You repeated a previous mistake. You edited the Blog page with Brizy. When you do this, the design you add to the page overrides the Blog Listing Template you had added earlier. I have deleted the blog page, added a new page, named it blog and set it as the new blog page.

Please edit the Blog Listing Template under Brizy - Templates and delete the Coming Soon text.

Ok.  Thank you KC.  I have to remember to do it in order I guess.  I appreciate all your help.
