I have the same problem and it's fully reproducible (following the WP plugin.hold critical error approach, https://wordpress.org/support/article/faq-troubleshooting/#how-to-deactivate-all-plugins-when-not-able-to-access-the-administrative-menus).

What am I supposed to do?

Update: this is my workaround and it's working:

    1. Download https://www.brizy.io/account/content/f/id/83 (latest Pro Version 2.3.0).

    2. Upload it (plugins page) and use it to replace the existing 2.1.13 (IIRC, latest previous version).

    Working again without side effects.

I wonder why my workaround (which is the same as the support workaround) wasn't published...:

    Hi Michael,

I created a private ticket on this request. You had to receive a notification regarding this on email. Could you send to us in that private message the WP credentials to this site? We will check this problem from the dashboard.

    Best regards,

    Nelea.

    Hi,

I had the same issue. The problem arises if Brizy standard is updating to 2.3.0, but the Pro version does not (and remains on 2.2.0). If you update Brizy Pro in the safe mode (recovery mode) of Wordpress by downloading it from the Brizy site and upload and install it manually in Wordpress, the site will run again.

But there's a different problem afterwards: The menu's do NOT display subitems.

Please check the menu's before updating Brizy!

    Kind regards,

    Berry Grooten (Netherlands)

We can reproduce this error on all our websites:

    • Current theme: The Core Child (version 1.0)
    • Current plugin: Brizy Pro (version 2.2.13)
    • PHP version 7.4.21

Same here when upgrading to 2.30.  Not a coincidence, I think.  When I disable Brizy Pro, site goes back online.

Same problem. Where can I download the previous version? Thank you

I'm also seeing this on several of my sites all using Brizy Pro

turns out I the brizy plugin was NOT updated to 2.3.0 for some sites and others the brizy pro plugin was NOT updated.

For the sites that were completely unavailable, I had to disable brizy pro via phpAdmin in the CPanel, then manually update one or both of the plugins from the downloaded zip file.

Once both were at 2.3.0, the sites were back and working.

Hi Nelea, same for me. I can not login into Wordpress as the Error Message also appears there.

I just upgraded from Brizy WP 2.2.0 to 2.3.0. I got the same critical error message, but did not get the email to go into WP recovery mode. I forgot how to do that. Can anyone help with that so I can revert to the backup just before the update?

I am a Brizy Pro licensee, but I never got to the point of updating to Pro 2.3.0 because of the crash.

My client's website is down now and I can't get it back up until I restore the backup!

    Hi,

    Thank you for your message

We are currently investigating this issue and we will do our best to come back soon with a fix. In the meantime, I recommend you delete Brizy plugins via FTP and install the previous versions(2.2.20 PRO and 2.2.13 Free) manually so you have the site live until we come up with a fix. Here's an article on how you can do that: https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-manually-update-wordpress-plugins-via-ftp/

btw: you might as well try to upgrade PHP to the latest version. I think there is something about this, so it could be a solution for you until tomorrow.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.

    Best regards,

    Nelea.

    Thanks.

I am already running PHP 7.4.

I used FTP to get around the error and restore from a backup.

I was able to deactivate the Brizy Pro plugin using WordPress Recovery mode, and my site is functioning for now, so I'll await an update. My webhost deals with the PHP (EasyWP at Namecheap), so that will be up to them. Thanks for working on a fix.

    Hello!

I want to apologize for all these troubles with the latest update. Thanks to all users who shared the right solution.

Yes, the fix is in the Brizy PRO plugin, it should be updated too, to the 2.3.0 version.

Right now we are preparing a new release with an additional warning message to update the PRO plugin first.

Again, I want to apologise. We've tested this version for 2 months but didn't take into consideration that we will have troubles with the update processes.

    Best Regards, Natalia

just to update for anyone here.

I followed the instructions given by support. This was to delete the free version, reinstall the pro version, activate the free version, activate the pro version. Great, my site came back on, but all my Lottie animations are gone, and I can't access Brizy editor. Not sure what else to do and i'm getting phone calls and texts from 4 am today from my client about this site.

Seems now like something is really broken too by using the above process.
